Not sure if the year of the Specialized bike is correct. Little help please. The other pic is me on my first bike ride in more than 20 years. Riding a 1997 Cannondale Super V700.

Taken for an article in the news here... that would be me on the left and Brigitte in the stand even though nothing is amiss with her.

65er, who's your photographer? Very nice.

You need a hat and sweater in Edmonton in July? Or is that picture from earlier?

It was taken by a professional photographer that contracts to the local paper... this was done in late May for a June feature where I made the front page. They were writing an article on vintage bicycle collecting and restoration and my little shop just happens to sits in the heart of the neighbourhood and is the only shop in this part of the city.

The photographer is very good... she runs her own small local studio here and contracts to our small local newspaper which serves the downtown core.

Now I have people coming up to me on the street as they recognize me from the paper... and the publicity has been rather good for business.

Bicycle66 is Kyle Brooks -- and also the writer behind The Retrogrouch Blog

I have a lot of bikes -- a lot of them are classic-styled and vintage Mercians from England -- some new, some old. You can see many of them on this Retrogrouch post on Mercian: The Retrogrouch: Mercian Cycles - History and Tradition

Hello there! I'm a newbie here and a newbie to being a serious cycler. I recently acquired a beautiful fixer upper bike, it's an Astra-and a 10speed. So far this is all I know about the bike, it needs a new front tire and some major rust clean ups-after that we will see how the restoring goes!

@iab - thanks for posting those photos. Everyone looks so happy.
@Sixty Fiver - great photo of you in your shop. If I'm ever in your part of the world I'm stopping by.
@Gannburg- not sure if you're still around, but I have a 1992 Specialized Hardrock Ultra with that color scheme, so I'm guessing your bike is early '90's. Hope that helps.

Thanks, Velocivixen! Then we shall call it a '92.... Or maybe a '94.

@Gannburg- here's a link to bikepedia.com. I can see writing on your bike after "crossroads" but can't tell what it says - it could be "Cruz", "CX", or "Sport". You can use the link then click on the one it is and see when it was made, components for each year, etc. Great site. Hope this helps.

BikePedia

Here's mine. I've upgraded it with "era specific" components, but not original components.
