Bianchi ID Again!!!
Can anyone help me out with the vintage and level of this Bianchi..... flag decals on the top tube, chrome on the chain side chainstay, chrome fork with what looks like it might be a flat fork crown, SLX tubing, 7-speed Campy ergo. Perhaps late 80's? Thanks!

Get it. Yesterday. Period
(that said, the ergos are 8sp Campy Record) with an SLX frame, it's a no-brainer... (probably a modification on the bike) |
a SLX frame nice find. the decal look very european but if the parts were put on the frame new it is ropughly a '92 - '93 bike.

I would love to see pics if you have picked this up and I have this strange feeling it was a steal

Interesting...
the cranks looks like a Super Record crank (and much older than the rest of the components... FD looks like Chorus but I cannot be sure from that shot) http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...4&d=1278974585 |
Nice looking bike. Did you get it?

Good move.

I recently acquired an identical frame/fork in a horsetrade with a family member. He had purchased it in the early 90s (frame/fork only); he thought it had been a frame made for a Bianchi racing team (although I have not been able to confirm this). Any speculation about what it might be worth?

Whatever someone will give you, or $3.50, whichever is more.
|
identical? same grafics? I think these are European or Canadian market bikes. can you post a few pics?

Thank you OLF for the lesson in the current market price of scrap metal !!!
BianchiGirll - same graphics, including the tri-colored decals on the top and down tubes, the "Made in Italy" decal just above the bottom bracket, and the Bianchi decals at the tops of the rear stays and the bottom bracket. The sloping fork crown is engraved with the bianchi logo and has Bianci engraved on its sides. The frame (not built up) was originally purchased from Kenwood Cyclery in the early '90s when they had their White Bear Lake (MN) shop. Pics are below. |
Great looking frame and fork. I never recall seeing those deacals on a US market bike and always thought they were European bikes/frame. looks great though
|
That it is a European frame is consistent with the information about it that I had been told. How it wound up in the hands of the American distributor is not known; but then, it seems par for the course for Bianchi, which certainly did not have a straightforward supply/distribution system.
Does anyone recall when the 130mm rear dropout spacing became standard? |
looks alot like mine, however a previous owner had the argetin paint scheme done to it. how do you like the ride?
|
I'll have to admit that I only took it for a spin once, but it seemed tight and responsive, perhaps a bit softer that the Colnago Super (Columbus SL) that I am used to riding. BUt it was a bit tough to get a good sense of the ride, as the frame is actually too small for me; normally I ride a 62cm. I had acquired it in a trade mainly for the Super Record components that it had been built up with (now removed). My post here was primarily driven by the fact that this seems like an oddball frame, and I really could not find much information about it until I found this thread.
That said, what are your thoughts on its ride? |
TJSF and Cpsqlrwn -
I know this is a long shot. I've been looking for that Bianchi frame for quite sometime, which is how I stumbled on this thread. Is there any chance you'd be interested in parting ways with her? I'm a new member on this forum, but I've been a member at Paceline Forum for awhile. Any help or leads would be much appreciated! Thanks! David |
