Need some info on frame
 

Just received an "old" steel frame, which has never been used and therefore unpainted/treated. This frame hang for many years in a barn and it is therefore unclear what kind or type of frame it is. Apperently this should be a columbus frame, but thats all the information i have.
So can somebody tell me more info on this frame?

I don't have any idea what it could be. the luggs are beautiful and dropouts with those 'caps' are very nice looking.

It's a 54cm frame what has been told. The person who gave it to me, could only tell that it should most likely be a Columbus frame, but i have no idea what type it is. He also has one 61cm available somewhere. Is it worth to to try to get a hold on that one also?

Weigh it. Measure the seat tube diameter. Look for "ribs" in the tubes. Is there a dove on the steerer tube?

That is a lovely frame. Looks to be my size :)

Newer frame, likely late 80's onwards.

Still not aware if what have gain. Reading the comments, it appears to be a good gift!
But the question remains what manufacturer the fame made and type if tubeset used here.

Did you check the threading and width of the bottom bracket shell? Fast, and reasonable accurate method is with an accurate caliper. 68mm wide: English, 70mm: Italian.

If Italian, most likely Columbus tubing. If English, maybe Reynolds.

BTW, fork looks like it has aged differently. Original?

These are standard Taiwanesse investment cast lugs - which are very pretty, BB is a Cinelli cast unit. These would suggest a frame built in the late 90s.

Those look a lot like the Arrowhead lugs that Bob Jackson uses on some of his bikes.

Or mid-90's at the earliest.
That's a Silva brake bridge, and those cap-style vertical dropouts weren't commonly used until the 90's.

As far i can measure, the width of the bottom bracket shell = 68mm. But again i stillt think it's a Columbus frame, because the person who gave me this frame was told it was Columbus. But now i'm a bit confused....

Now that you mention it... this is a 2000 model.

I think it is indeed built in mid-90's.

being in the netherlands and having an english bottom bracket could probably point to it being a dutch bike. Being dutch, I would not rule out the tubes being columbus as there does not seem to be a tube loyalty among dutch makers (i.e. the rumored columbus SL seat stays on some Gazelle AA R. 531 framed bikes).

my guess... low-volume, dutch maker. And this is just a guess nothing more.

when checking some images on some Gazelle AA R. 531 bikes, those look indeed very similar.
I'm planning to paint the frame and fork and place some vintage decals on them, but therefore it's nice to know the tubes used here.
Any thoughts on which color to use?

Good idea to also get a hold on the other frame ? size 61cm?
Does somebody knows the value for this kind off frame(S)?

That is both a difficult question to answer - especially not being certain exactly what you have, and one that really would be better addressed in the C&V What's it Worth forum.

I can purchase the other frame for 50 euro's maybe, so that's very cheap in my perspective
