My first century, on my paramount
I rode my first century this weekend, the New York Century, all 108 miles on my 1972 Schwinn Paramount, which is finally restored with all the old Campy goodies. It rode beautifully and comfortably, no aches and pains at all. Here's to good old Reynolds 531!

You have a newly restored '72 Paramount and you don't post pictures? What's up with that? Post some pics!
btw - congrats on the ride. That is an accomplishment on ANY bike. |

Classic steel road frames, with skinny stays, long fork rakes, and longish wheelbases, are indeed ideal for long rides.

Congradulations!! I have a bike that is very similar to your Paramount, a 1974 Raleigh International, also Reynolds 531. This year I rode a couple of centuries and the Seattle to Portland one-day double century on it. Fast, strong, and painless. Great machines never go out of style.
