Check Out This Fork!
Some dude is selling this on Raleigh CL. He wants $100 for it, but thats not the kicker. CHECK OUT THAT FORK!!! He's been called on it by the local CL police and some others who are trying to get that thing off the road, but he keeps relisting.
He's a flipper who usually sells some pretty nice looking bikes for higher than average prices. I'm OK with that, but that fork, yeesh! WHile we're at it, check out the stem. I almost forgot. It's a Magna.:innocent: http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/m...MagnawFork.jpg |
set up in "rando" mode w extra rake.
|
reverse bend, what did he do, over-correct a normal bent fork?
|
Negative trail! Negative trail! Negative trail!
|
Comeback of the "banana bike"?
|
I've got the perfect Korean made frame that has matching rear seat stays...I'll have to go drag it out of the woods one of these nights :)

I wonder if it's a roof rack/garage entry related injury. I don't remember seeing pictures of one which didn't involve carbon or aluminum so I can't tell. Either that or someone fell down a mountain backwards. Wow. And is the seatpost bent as well or is that a trick of the background? Regardless, the guy needs a thump upside the head for trying to sell that.

Inadequate landing gear.
|
This is what happens when a 400 pound gorilla is doing handstands on the handlebars...
Gee. (I agree with the landing gear assessment... this looks like someone took a jump with it and landed on the back side of the front wheel while the rear was in the air... I'd bet that the rider looked as good after that fact as this fork looks now and I suspect that the wheel was taco'd) |
plus that stem, I doubt it is a technomic.
|
Piece of junk was probably less than $100 new, but you know what PT Barnum said.
|
perhaps this is a limited edition 'American Chopper' version

Most likely a jumping bend. Total POS, but it is lugged.

I know him. He's a pretty nice guy, and the labor involved in his flips is generally a lot more than I put into bikes that aren't for me.
I've given him a lot of parts over the last couple of years, and he's always offered to pay, but he's a good way for me to get rid of chrome 27's, turkey brake levers, etc. I've seen a couple of the bikes/frames back up on CL, but in a lot better condition than when I had them... He negotiates, and overcharges because he gets low-balled on every bike. UNC-Chapel Hill is covered in bikes he sells to college students for $100 or so. The CL getapo has really been on him lately, complaining about his prices. I know he has 30 hours in a Panasonic women's bike I gave him, plus cables, pads, tires, sold for $160 after listing for $200.... When the bike coop went under, I turned to him, and always enjoy meeting him, getting rid of parts I have absolutely no use for... almost all his bikes are landfill/yard sale bikes. I figure he nets $50-$75 per bike, probably $5/hour, certainly no more than $10/hour. They're not in landfills, and more power to him. That fork, though is one messed up item. |
