Brooks and seatpost problem
Both of my main bikes have Brooks saddles and Thomson Elite seatposts. Great combo except that Thomson has absolutely no setback. And as most of you know, Brooks rails make it difficult to slide the seat back too much. Are there any other high quality AL seatposts that have more setback? One is a 27.2, should be easy to find, and the other 27.4, much smaller selection.

VO (Velo-orange.com) has a very nice 2-bolt post with lots of setback:

Thompson makes a setback model.

kalloy uno 27.4 seatpost. the quality is fine. the anodize finish isnt that great.
otherwise, get a 27.2 seatpost and use a shim or have a bike shop knurl the seatpost so it has some bite. |
two words.
American Classic. Yes that one, light, has some set back and allows more adjustment room with a Brooks saddle than almost any seatpost I know of. And did I mention cheap? like $10 or $15 on ebay? Marty |
Just about anything but a Thompson.

What's the matter with Thompson? (seriously, never used them, but the pics I have seen look nice)

They're well made, but I think thay look out of place on vintage bikes. There are pleanty of well made vintage posts that match the other vintage copmonents.
