Received my decals from Velocal today and they look great. Thanks JR!

dbakl 06-11-12 04:08 PM

I just got a message mine have shipped. Seems like its only been 2 weeks, fair enough turnaround.

buldogge 06-11-12 07:41 PM

I still have not heard back from JR from the last time I emailed him...oh well.

ColonelJLloyd 06-11-12 09:52 PM

I sent JR an email two weeks ago requesting replacement decals for the ones he made me a few months earlier as I had damaged the one on the seat post. He replied within a few hours and mailed the decals the next day. Personally, I have had nothing but good experiences dealing with Velocals. And, as has been said, he does good work.

Justin...Can you email JR and ask if he will make a custom set of decals for your Vittorio Strada MAX?

TIA

I emailed him on 3 May, no response.

I can only conclude that business must be so good he doesn't need to waste his valuable time responding to those pesky customers ;)

Mark, try calling him. He's always picked up when I called, and that seems to work a lot better.

It says elsewhere on this thread that calling him works the best. Try a human interface.

This is not his full-time job. I don't ask him about his delays; I agree they can be significant, and I imagine he's fully aware of them.

Find out when he's printing some sheets and maybe that will give you a better idea of a delivery time.

Nerdy Norm 06-12-12 09:32 AM

You may well be right, but when someone goes to the trouble of creating an e-commerce website, which includes a contact email address, but doesn't bother replying to enquiries, then in my opinion they don't deserve customers' business. It doesn't matter to me that it's not his full-time job (why should it?), if he can't answer queries, he doesn't get my business.

I should add that he's not alone in being pants at communicating, many websites are similar, and I avoid them equally. By way of comparison, during the process of my restorations I've dealt with several websites which I'm guessing are not their owners' full-time occupation (I'm thinking of Derek at Old Bike Trader and David at Dutch Bike Bits), both of which give exemplary customer service.

Then don't use him. Seems pretty simple. Hardly worth the rant.

+1

had the same problem with him..i went even as far as to post on this site about it,
maybe thats the key, if you dont' get replies, post about your frustration. seems to get a response out of him

Simple enough.

Honestly, I'm happy to get what I need no matter how long it takes. Not too many years ago you couldn't get ANYTHING unless you had it made yourself. Believe me, no one is getting rich by recreating and supplying this stuff. Its very time consuming.

I've been thinking that every time I see the Psimet thread.
"NO WHEELS FOR YOU!!!"

Flog00 06-12-12 12:59 PM

I ordered a full set( Trek) to the tune of $70 on 6/7/2012, I'll let everyone know when it gets here :)

Flog00 06-21-12 06:28 PM

I received an email stating my order has been shipped.

I am sure the quality will be top notch and I have no problems with the time frame.

Thanks velocals!

Chombi 06-21-12 06:34 PM

It would be nice if people would post pics of the decals they get from Velocals (Mounted or unmounted) so people who haven't used them yet, can get the best idea of the quality of their work so they can decide whether to use them for a project.....

Flog00 06-21-12 06:50 PM

I will post before and after for ya', Chombi.

I just hope I don't screw up the install.

sced 06-22-12 05:19 AM

This bike has a full set plus some custom scripts. It was a little shaky getting the order placed but once communicating all went smoothly. The decals look very good and went on easily.

It's just a one man operation. Give him a break.

Chicago Al 06-22-12 12:03 PM

Haven't bought from Velocals, but I ordered a set of TA decals from Greg Softley through eBay, put it through on 6/13, looks like they went into the post in Australia on the 14th, and I received them earlier this week. Not bad, and only $3 postage! He threw in a little Campagnolo sticker as a bonus. In future I think I'd order direct from his Cyclomondo.net site, help him cut expenses.

XLR99 06-22-12 12:39 PM

I've ordered from Greg in the past as well, and was also shocked by how fast they got to me. Good to know about his site, I'd rather the money go to him than Ebay.

Lenton58 06-23-12 10:44 AM

JR is a nice, honest, skilled man. But, when it comes to getting the business done and the job on the bike stand finished, Mr Softely has my vote and patronage. I'll skip the details, but this is my conviction, and I hope the man in Oz stays active in the business.

dbakl 06-24-12 11:31 PM

I got my stuff from VeloCals, very nicely done, including a complicated Olmo set I've been wanting for years...
