Cinelli experts...is this a Cinelli?

This bike came up near me as a "Cinelli" but I don't recognize that symbol on the fork crown and there are no decals. Has it mistakenly been identified as a Cinelli because it has a Cinelli bottom bracket? The parts are nice though, full C-Record and Cobalto brakes. Any ideas gang?

No. Wrong seat lug seat stay configuration.

Thanks, that was my thought as well. What company has that logo?

Chouinard climbing equipment has morphed into Patagonia

It is highly unlikely it is a Cinelli as the C logo does not correspond to any logo ever used by Cinelli. The seat lug configuration also does not correspond to that commonly used for the Super Corsa model (Cinelli did however make some, for them, lower end bikes in the 80's and 90's that did use this type of seat lug treatment). It is likely a custom built frame from a small builder.

Actually the climbing equipment end of things morphed into Black Diamond, Patagonia handles soft goods/ clothes.

C = Chupacabra!:eek::D
How long ago did Cinelli start using the "Flying C" logo anyway??

I believe '78 - both old and new graphics styles were used that year.

Interesting...Chouinard was making aluminum bongs in 1961, eh? Oh, that's not what it means? ;)

Ah, you beat me to it. I was going to say "Wow. Climbing equipment and durable bongs. They cover multiple modes of getting high."

I fear adding this comment for whatever it might bring about, but those C-in-a-diamond logos remind me of Campagnolo's post-CPSC quick-release lever engraving:

nice picture kurt... guess you couldn't come up with a more decent one, eh? :D

The sides of the diamond are not flat; they're curved inwards. Must be the logo for something else...

You could go to http://www.velobase.com and search the headbadge gallery for all the "C" brands. Perhaps one will match.

It's not his, it's Ray Dobbins.

Way to give credit, Kurt.

Was busy with 5 other things when I was posting this. Got distracted and forgot to credit it; would have undoubtedly done so the next time I found myself in this thread. Original source is as follows: http://www.raydobbins.com/ebay/bike-...guerciotti.htm - alternately, Ray's main page: www.raydobbins.com.

Ironically enough - considering streik's comment - this wasn't the particular photo of Ray's Guerciotti that I had in mind - I chose it only as I didn't have time to let the others load. This is (oddly enough, I just now realized that it has disappeared Ray's page for the Guerciotti):

P.S.: If you are wondering why this particular picture is so firmly embedded in my mind, it so happens that I've been using it as my desktop image since 2008.

Never mind the credit issue, the pic just makes my screen overheat.

...

and i'm not on a macbook ;)
