To REFACE or NOT to Reface?

I'm nearing the end of my 83 Fuji Touring Series project, and have just received the new bb and headset in the mail. Since the paint was far-gone and decals are hard to find for this model, I decided to customize it with a new powdercoat, and ordered up a pretty generic but appealing light blue color.

I now want to install the new headset and bottom bracket - and I'm wondering if it is *absolutely* necessary that I have the shell refaced for the new hardware. The threads are good and the steerer and bottom bracket edges look clean... Out of excitement I did a quick "dry fit" and it went together perfectly. Does that mean I well enough alone, or do I have to go the extra mile?

If I had to choose I'd think it was unnecessary, and I'd forgo the $40 or whatever it would cost for a chase & face.

Expert opinions for a first time complete, top-to-bottom overhauler?

You're fine. If you're really worried about it, hit the faces with a razor blade.

Thank you, that's pretty much exactly what I was thinking - I just needed to hear it from someone else to make sure I wasn't doing something advisable!
