Schwinn Parts

As you may be aware I have come into a lot of parts I am trying to sort out. I notice on eBay that Schwinn parts seem to be pretty saleable. The parts listed on eBay seem to be unmarked and a lot of my parts (except for major things like hubs) are unmarked. How do you tell if a part is Schwinn. Are they all marked? Thanks.

Generally speaking, Schwinn parts say "Schwinn Approved" on them somewhere.

I tried to sell a bunch of schwinn approved junk...I mean parts..on ebay last year with little luck. All mine is in the Pay It Forward Thread now... The derailleurs and lever all work and change gears and stuff but to me they feel like the equivalent of using a hatchet to do a job you'd normally use a paring knife for.

The only schwinn approved stuff thats really worth any money on ebay is Krate/Chopper stuff and Paramount stuff (but most of that isn't "Schwinn Approved")

Schwinn didn't make jack. Some of the parts on their bikes were marked "Schwinn Approved" which is code for made by someone else, with a Schwinn tag put on it. So if the part is not marked Schwinn Approved, then I don't think it has any value above the regular value for the part.

+1 Most Schwinn Approved stuff does not bring premium dollars on ebay, except as noted above.

Can you provide links to the Completed auctions you have seen that got high prices? I have a stash of Schwinn Approved stuff myself. Most of the completed auctions I looked at, the item did not get any bids.

Tinykin, I suspect you're talking about older Schwinn parts than Zaphod and wrk101 mean. At any rate, to be considered a Schwinn part, something would have to say Schwinn on it (or AS or AS&Co, etc), rather than Schwinn Approved (which means Schwinn didn't make it). I have a '40 Schwinn that has the word "Schwinn" written in cursive on the front hub, crank, brake calipers, and elsewhere. The rims, and the brake pads, have SCHWINN in block print. The seat post bolt and other bolt heads have a funky shaped AS on it. The chain ring says A S & C O. Pedals and handlebars say Torrington (which means Schwinn didn't make them; but Torrington stuff also sells pretty well on ebay).

Some Schwinn parts also have an S. I have some bolts and stems that have the S - pretty sure they are Schwinn although I have no idea if they are Schiwnn
made or just Schwinn branded. On Ebay you can find Schwinn parts under the Collectable category. As others have said there generally isn't much premium
for Schwinn parts. I should try the Pay It Forward thread with my pile...
