Non-drive side tensioning: Raleigh
So on my Raleigh Grand Prix it doesnt have a RD hanger, instead it has one of those "claws" that bolt on.
As a result, there is a little gap behind the axle on the non drive side (see below). I dont like this. I have seen old spacers that fit into this little hole, what are they called?
Would one of these BMX tensioners work? link

Don't worry about it. If you ever dislodge that wheel while riding, it won't shift rearwards on the left dropout. Virtually every roadbike is set up like this, though some have adjusters built into the dropouts to make sure quick wheel swaps aren't offset.
That said, you can put a spacer in there for adjustment's convenience.

Well, quickly took the wheel out and put back in and it was very crooked and rubbing on the left chainstay. Figured, if I could fill that gap, I could be a little more mindless about it.

Surly makes a pricey, modern take on the old spacers: https://gear.com/p/surly-monkey-nuts
You're probably better off digging up a LBS that has a few of the old ones in the bottom of a bin.

P.S.: If I had intended to call that spacer "stupid," I would have done so.
