Do I have to post the Land Shark photos again?
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ght=land+shark |
I'm sure it's not the only one around, but I haven't seen another. It's a Bridgestone Kabuki Submariner. The main tubes are stainless steel and the lugs are aluminum. The rest is high tensile steel. It's still under construction. All I've done since the picture was taken is add a stainless KMC chain and a temporary front brake cable so I can test ride it. It's not a bad ride, but the moustache bars make for a long stretch for me. I may have to change those. It weighs 23 pounds.

Have gotten the impression that she's pretty unique and at her age she is in pretty remarkable condition.

I like that idea. sort of a BF version of the Cirque awards, and we do different catagories, i.e. Japanese, European, something like that. have set judges, and also a 'BF'ers choice award based on best of each category going head to head.
and just remember I can ban all of you. (j/k) Marty |

Perhaps we need to have a yearly vote on nicest bike, similar to Velo Cheapo...winning bikes cannot be re-entered.
Sixty Fiver, in what year did you find the Peugeot? |

to the grandfather clause cut off. . . gee I'm really sorry you've missed out on this. |
I love this idea and have a pretty good idea which ones I'd vote for. Sixty Fiver's bike is just...WOW...awesome. I wonder if she'd consider cheating on him and being ridden by another?

I like it! I suggest there be a separate contest for each year, the Find of the Year, and of course we'd wait until the year is over before voting.

Sixty Fiver, in what year did you find the Peugeot? Aside from having the wrong bars fitted she was just like this when I found her... it was only this spring that I decided that she needed a little polishing up. Will be re-lacing the front wheel with stainless spokes (have re-done the rear)and have a few little dents in the fenders that need rolling out and just need a headlight lens. |

Do we need a thread for submissions? Should we judge in the Winter, when we are deprived of riding these beauties. |
I think there should be a separate thread for each calendar year. I'd suggest, for example, we have a "2006: Find of the Year!" thread, in which Sixty-Fiver can enter his bike if he chooses to do so. It doesn't matter if minor changes were made later. It also doesn't really matter what year you acquired a bike; you pick the most likely year, and enter. One submission per person; you have to decide for yourself what was your best find.
I'd also suggest one has to state what the original find consisted of, and what the original find cost; in Sixty Fiver's case it was a whole bike, for free, but with a different handlebar. I don't care what he spent on the new handlebar (if anything). |
I like the Find of the Year Idea too.
I'd like to suggest that we'd be allowed to nominate others bikes as well |

1977 A-D. I don't think they are so uncommon - Except in mixte form.

Does this mean my winning 2010 Velo Cheapo Jetter bike, cannot be entered as a unique, one of a kind, nobody else has this cycle? I can't believe my ears!

What a beauty. I'll see if I can't snap a pic or two of some other interesting bikes a little later. |

I thought about that, but I'm not in favor. Consider, for example, if I nominated your Duerkopp and used the photos you've already posted. I suspect you would think "but it's not ready yet!" So I'll leave it to you to enter it when you think it is ready. You just have to have it ready before the contest begins....
