"Selection" cycle

If no one comes up with an immediate answer, it will help if you post close-up pictures of bottom bracket shell, seat lug cluster, dropouts, fork crown, rear brake bridge, and head tube lugs. In addition, type of bottom bracket threading and seatpost diameter.

Yes, I know, sorry! Is all I have, the bike is on sell in my area, so....

The crank spider/arms look very similar or identical to a Stronglight 106, specially with the flute showing at the back of the non-drive side crank arm......
That and the CLB brakes, plus the mention of Mavic hubs say "French"! The Cyclone MkII derailleurs might be a later add. Plain looking, medium point lugs look very similar to what I have on my Peugeot PSV. Single bottle bosses and longish horizontal rear dropouts say it's late 70's to early 80's Looks like a nice ride, but I guess you might have to pronounce the name with a bit of a French accent to make it sound more interesting....:D Chombi |
Thank you, Chombi!
But, there is a such a manufacturer as "Selection"? Or is simply a sticker? I know about a french (thanks google!) seller/manufacturer name "Selection Cycles Paris", but they close in the `60, aparently. http://oldbike.wordpress.com/1952-se...tourer-french/ |

My brother turned his Motobecane into a "Mont Blanc" overnight using these decals. The bike still looks to be French bike because of the components but you can look into it further to make sure. Are there marking on the rear dropouts? A good shot of the BB and the the chainstay bridge nest to it could give hints too on what the bike is all about. Chombi |
