1982 (I think) Univega Gran Turismo-- what seat post size?
I have recently acquired this bicycle for my husband (serial number is K644553). We were cleaning it up today and trying to mount a different saddle to the seat post. I then noticed that not only was the saddle not mounting well to this particular seat post, but it looked too small for the frame as well. I looked up on Sheldon's database and he said that the 82 needs a 26.6 and an 83 need a 26.8. The one we have is a 26.4. My Nishiki Olympic 12 mixte has a 26.4 seat post in it which seems correct, but Sheldon's site says it needs a 26.6 also. So, are all my seat posts the wrong size here?

hmm. yours looks pretty similar, albeit very much larger. ours too is grey, has one bottle mount. Does yours have clamp on down tube shifters? Ours does. It has a much shorter in height stem and a fluted seat post as is similar to your picture, but it seems ill-fitting seat post. I would assume that this bike with double butted tubes should have a different seat post size than my straight gauge tubed nishiki. I want to buy a seat post tomorrow-- is it 26.6 or 26.8... I guess maybe I should bring it in to be measured?

I do not know exactly what size this Univega required, but 26.8 was a very common size for Japanese made bikes. Above posted advice is best.

+1 Take it to a shop. The 26.4mm post you have is not the right size. Bike might actually be a 26.7mm size, as the Miyata 610 from those years was an oddball 26.7 (Miyata made the Univega Gran Turismo).
