Need help with vintage Motobecane headset rebuild

Hey. I've been doing an overhaul on a vintage Motobecane Mirage my father and law got me at a yard sale, and I didn't pay enough attention to the headset when I took it apart. Now I have two pieces that I don't know where they go. (Pics of specific pieces at bottom)

I also forgot to put the bar that holds the cable stop on, but I realize that. It would be really helpful if you could post pictures of your similar Motobecane, especially close ups of the headset. And super helpful if you recognize the parts I have pictured.

Thanks.

In picture #3, top right side, you are holding the stem shifter clamp assembly that holds it around the stem. There is a Phillips screw that goes into the center of this piece that screws into a threaded bar that is part of the stem shifter assembly. The part in the last picture is the rear brake cable carrier and adjuster screw assembly that fits around the seat post clamp bolt.

Fatnastic ! Enjoy your overhaul work. I just sold a Moto Mirage yesterday. I never sold Moto's in the bike business, but always loved them for , not only their color and color coooridnation choices, but their wisdom in utilizing great shifting SunTour derailleurs and shifters instead of Huret and Simplex. Seems like it was always the best marriage of a great European bike with quality Japanese parts that worked better than European ones.

I ran into some more trouble. I think I may have lost a piece, or maybe I just have it set up wrong. When I assemble the headset I put on the race cup, then lock washer, then cablestop bar, and finally the the nut. Is this the correct order?

The cablestop bar does not fit properly. because of its shape there is a gap between the lock washer and part of the cablestop bar. (pictured below.)

I also am not sure if the top nut is installed correctly. It has kind of a cone shape on one side. Should that side be facing up or down?

The first pic is of the pieces I have (minus the race cup which is installed).
The second pic is how I have the pieces installed now.

My plan is to buy a washer at the harware store to make the cablestop bar sit flush. But I wanted to check it out here first.

thanks

Top nut is upside down.

You are missing a piece, the lock nut that goes directly on top of the headset cap. You need more than a washer.

Should be able to scrounge a part at your favorite LBS. Mine has a tub of headset take offs.
