need part

I bought an old bike years ago. It is a C.Itoh on 27 inch rims. I'm trying to get it roadworthy.
I've replaced the shift cables. removed the street tires and replaced them with a slightly larger cross section and a more aggressive tread for country roads, and a new seat. On a test run I noticed the rear brake was barely functioning. After cleaning the caliper which seems to work well I still have the same problem.
Where can I find replacement brake pads. The caliper is Bridgestone the pads are round and about 1" in diameter.
The local bike shop said I should try Tractor Supply. I'm still not laughing.
Can anyone help???

Hi Grandpa10 -
Without a photo it's hard to know what exactly it is you are looking for, but generally, you can find what you need at Niagara Cycle Supply

Sounds like your old pads are vintage Kool-Stop BMX ones. Odd choice for a road bike. You can replace them with most inexpensive caliper pads.
