Bikes: More than I care to admit

Waterloo, Illinois?

There is a local pickup only bike in Waterloo, Illinois. Anyone close? A large Univega Ultima ATB ~1985.
Cheers,
MD

I'm sure the folks in St Louis know this, but Waterloo IL is a big hike from the Chicago area. Much closer to STL than any population center in Illinois. Also, it's yet another Illinois city I'd never heard of before (lived in Evanston IL since 1999).

I'm looking for someone who could help me out, or actually help my friend out in the Atlanta suburbs.
I'm building him a bike, shipping it, then needing it put together for him.
If anyone can help out near Newnan, it would be appreciated greatly!
Thanks all!
Phil

Bikes: Too many but still looking

Help packing in Minneapolis

Hello everyone,

Kind member Twolve is selling me an Eisentraut limited recently outed by member Clang in “are you looking for one of these …” thread.
Fellow member does not feel comfortable packing the bike so I’m looking for some help to pack.
I can compensate with tender (legal), tires (or parts), or tipple (or any combination).
My last experience with a reputable bike shop with regards to packing was not good. Have the names of a few shops already but first looking to see if anyone able to help.
The bike is well used but lovely so in my mind worth “fussing over” to get here safely….
Many thanks,

Steve in Detroit

Update August 21- checking if by chance someone in MPLS may be able to help either with packing OR maybe you are doing road trip East and could bring it closer to Detroit. I’ll meet you on your route somewhere! (Chicago, Toledo,
Etc)

Hello Again,
Can anyone from the Pittsburgh-area be of assistance in getting a bike shipped? The bike has a very nice Shimano Arrowhead group on it that could be compensation (along with the wheels & cockpit) for packing up just the frame.
Thank you,
John

Is there anyone in the Chicago area who could pick up and ship a local pick up only bike in Park Ridge, Illinois? There is a 25.5" Super Tourer up there I am interested in. Thanks,

Bueller? Bueller?

Thought that was an appropriate bump since it was a Chicago based film.

I'm possible (in Evanston). Make really sure you're ready to pay the shipping price before committing to the bike though. I sold one recently that was so expensive to ship it was cheaper to deliver the bike to the buyer.

I appreciate the offer and the wisdom. How much was the shipping if you don't mind saying? I know everything is more expensive but I have no idea how much more.

As I recall (didn't complete the purchase) it was about $170 to ship the bike from Evanston IL to Hales Corners WI (just outside Milwaukee). I drove the bike there, about 90 minutes each way.

Anyone in the Kankakee, IL area that would be willing to help with shipping a complete bike? Even a referral to a good local shop that does that sort of thing would be very much appreciated.

I'm looking for help to pick up a trainer in Chapel Hill, NC. Pick up, disassemble with a basic allen wrench, box (a wheel box should work), and ship. Can compensate as the trainer is so cheap.

Anyone in Chattanooga able to help with shipping a bike to me in Chicago? Seller was willing to pack and ship but has changed his mind when I sent pics and requests about packing (remove wheels and chainrings, use pipe insulation and zip ties, standard stuff). The people listed in this thread as being willing facilitators near there haven't been active on BF in several years; I messaged a couple but don't expect to hear back.

Is there anyone who regularly drives between the LA area and Phoenix? I'm talking with SoCalEd about buying his Moulton, but shipping is prohibitive (partly because of the large baskets--this may not be doable with a very small car).
