Motobecane ID?
 

trying to ID this Motobecane i picked up at the auction tonight for $30.
gold...blue sticker decal...badge is missing...derailer missing...
takagi crank. 2040 frame. brown leather velo seat.
i haven't found any with a chrome fork like this.
it's missing some decals so i can't figure the make and model.
the wheels are concave...are these factory?
i don't know bikes too well...i've been riding a vintage raleigh and looking for something lighter.
this would be a great user for me...however if it's worth anywhere near 300 i need to sell it. i don't think it's worth that much with plastic decals etc. what do you folks think?

I'll just guess that it could be a circa 1980 Super Mirage. It was from 2040 steel, came with Bocama lugs, was available in champagne gold, and had Weinmann rims, but I'm not certain they were Concaves. (Based on the fork, I suspect they too are period replacements.)

You did well for the price but no way is it worth near $300. Still a good bike though. Finish building it up and enjoy it !

Looks like it could be a Super Mirage with the 2040 tubing and alloy (Weinmann concave?) rims, but the full-chrome fork might be one that had paint but has been stripped, or it's a replacement. Those graphics and the crank are something like typical of the mid/late '70s, but color is a bit of a riddle: it might be "champagne gold" one of the Super Mirage colors used in 1979.

and another oddity is the sidepull Weinmann brakes, OEM would have been centerpulls.

The all chrome fork is not original, suggesting that the original one must have experienced damage, necessitating replacement. As for what model of bike, the pictures you offer, though big and clear, do not depict the frame features that would help to determine quality level and, perhaps, model.

Were you to take good, clear pictures of the drive side drop-out, the bottom bracket from the left side and fork drops, it would be easier to get an idea of what the bike is.
