What are you wrenching on at the moment?
Limit 5, though many are involved with more, I'm sure:
1-1978 Peugeot mixte, 2x5 friction Simplex and I just broke the R shifter. Overhaul for a friend. 2-1976 Schwinn Continental, 2x6 Schwinn group, and boy, is it heavy. Overhaul for a friend. 3-1988 Centurion Ironman Master, 2x7 600 tricolor w/2x7 RSX STI. For a novice locally. 4-1984 Peugeot mixte, 2x7 105 w/upright bars, alloys w/Gatorskins. Will be the end of me.... 5-???? I've collected a triple group. Need a frame, 56cm. |
1) Early 60's (maybe 50's) Columbia Rambler. Fun cruiser
2) Early 70's Peugeot U-08 (frame/fork trash picked) being equipped with drivetrain off a 72 Raleigh Sports.... It might work. Details to follow. The Raleigh fenders actually fit 3) Hopefully soon a late 70's Raleigh Comp GS (frame/fork only) that needs everything redone 4) just waiting.... 5) still waiting.... |
Both Capos need work right now.
1959: broken rear (Campagnolo!) axle -- I have procured a replacement which may work 1960: still a largely-disassembled project bike in need of paint patching and general cleanup, plus wheel rebuilding (The only non-original thing I am doing to it is to change to clincher tires, because goat head thorns are rampant around there.) |
I'm in the parts cleaning mode at the moment, but I have this set of lugs that need a jeweler's saw and a file taken to them, I have an idea finally.

Speaking of "affronts to God", I'm de-Campyizing my retro-recumbent: http://home.comcast.net/~jeff_wills/lightning/index.htm . Anybody want some Nuovo Record parts in OK shape? |
-2001 Fuji Ace-SE 43cm for my wife to use a trainer. Sweat pooling on a Waterford Paramount: BAD!
-1987 Rockhopper Comp for the son. -Stripping my RB-2 frame for eventual sale (57.5 CC 59 CT) -Debating moving my Mavic SSC group from the Bridgestone to either a nice 2010 LeTour frameset or my 1988 Peugeot. B |
Am building a tandem up... the rest of my bikes are all in good running condition.
I did do some minor drivetrain work to my Twenty today... swapped in a larger rear cog and a new chain to make hauling and climbing a little easier and make it ready for winter riding where a lower gear is preferable. |
1. Fuji Crossroads (picked up today). Should be done tomorrow.
2. Specialized Hardrock (picked up today, yes, I know, NO MORE MTBs or hybrids....) 3. Concord Mixte (Kawuhara built) 4. Fuji S12S: 19 inch frame 5. 1984 Fuji Royale II And I have about ten more in the queue. |
I'm setting up the Gitane TdF for Albatross bars. It's all ready to go back together, except that I don't have the bars. I was too tired after work to make the seven mile drive to Rivendell.
Tomorrow I'l be laying floor tile in the entry way. |

I have a few things I want to get to but I am not able to work on anything now. |
-Just finished a 1985 Trek 500 this morning.
-Building a 1999 Schwinn Peloton for myself. Got 9 speed brifters last night. Got a line on a crank maybe. 600 hubs to ? rims. -Going to look at a ____ _____ in the morning. -Lacing a vintage Campy Record high flange rear track hub to a Mavic Module E rim. I have to watch the you tube video again to remember how:o |
-Trying to get the stem un-stuck from L'Etoile.
-Fuji folding bike, languishing while I un-**** myself. I need to build a set of 650Bs, get a better crankset, and find a tall Technomic stem before anything else happens. --Traded in some hours at the shop for a totally cherry Schwinn Suburban with the Integer FF. If it weren't mint i wouldn't bother, but I don't see myself holding on to this one for long. -- I've got an old Peugeot U0-8. Real smooth ride, but heavy as a lead wedding band. It's got a Helicomatic on it and the wretchedness just keeps stacking up. I'm going to build it, Craigslist it, and unload it on the first responder who rubs me the wrong way. Monday is Extreme Makeover at the bike shop. 300+ Bike Boom Bikes are going to be taken out and put in the parking lot so we can do some badly-needed cleaning and organizing. Thank Crom I'll be drunk by noon. |
1. Waiting on a centurion from robbie (for girlfriend)
2. researching spoke info for my first wheel build. I'm using NOS campagnolo hubs and rims. They will also be my first tubulars. |
80 Azuki Sebring - fine tuning the transmogrification to single speed
60's Follis - reinstalling DT shifters and cables after frame up restoration; installing chain; applying seat tube decal replacement 71(?) Mercier 300 - frame up resto, just getting started 72 Peugeot PX-10 - fantasizing about swapping out handle bar and stem for my Cinelli outfit and losing DT shifters and replacing with bar end shifters |
A yard sale Schwinn Sprint flipper
My 82' Trek 613, just a few minor tweaks after a full refurb and My indecisive and ever-changing Pake commuter |
All bike wrenching in the Man Cave suspended.
1st floor central a/c died last week. Been up in the attic disassembling the unit. Awaiting motor delivery from UPS. Didn't arrive Friday, lost a long weekend opportunity. |
Quite a few others that will get attention as their turn comes. Aaron :) |
1. My son's 2009 GT Outpost Disc MTB - broken return spring in rear Promax disc calliper, adapting a Hayes MX4 caliper to fit. He needs it for the morning.
2. An old Gazelle step through, needs stripping & a repaint - all there though. Single speed with coaster brake, no front brake as standard but I'll fit one. 3. Ready to fit NOS Campagnolo Record headset to my Vitus 979 - this might be one for the LBS, I don't want to crush the head tube! 4. Trying to match up two small MTB frames to "cut & shut" into a touring tandem. Got the drivetrain, wheels, brakes & cable runs worked out, just need to sort out the best frames to use and get some silver brazing rods! Just an idea at present......... 5. Struggling to remove rusted in steel stems & seat posts from two otherwise sound steel MTB's I need to flip. Careful sawing! 6. Vindec 3 speed from 1960's, set up Sturmey Archer gears. 7. Swapping parts around generally and polishing up my stash! |
1. A 92 Trek 8500 MTB complete with period correct Rock SHox air shock in good working condition. XT and LX components. Will be on CL soon.
2. 87 Centurion LeMans RS. Needs lubing and recableing, then off to CL. 3. 92 Schwinn Paramount. I finally removed the Campy parts from another bike. Now I'm going to remove all the RX 100 stuff from the Schwinn. 4. 06 Giant OCR-C. Front DR cable is fraying, needs to be repaired for the MS 150. 5. 96 Cannondale R-600. Lube hubs, replace left shifter, add bar tape, then flip. |
A 1966 Schwinn Breeze 3-speed.
