Rubber block pedals?

Ok, my Sprite came with wide non-rebuildable block pedals. Loved them, except one was loose, and the other gritty--and they wore off like a mm or 2 of rubber in less than 200 miles. I put on some late model platforms, which grip my sneakers ok, but are not comfortable on longer rides. Are there more modern block pedals? I've got a couple sets of rebuildable pedals but I haven't gone looking for blocks, plus they are not as wide nor long as these oval ones.

Not rubber block, but the MKS sneaker pedals have worked really well for my wide feet. They're not as fat as the pinned BMX pedals I run on my winter commuter, but that's a good thing for most riding. Rivendell sells them for $27: http://www.rivbike.com/products/show...-pedals/14-047.

Have you thought about snagging some off an old Schwinn Suburban?

MKS makes rubber block pedals, Harris cyclery has them for about 25.00

I like the MKS touring pedals a lot. Not rubber blocks, but really nice.

Hmm, those MKS look nice. Not as good as "real" Raleigh, but servicable. I think I prefer them w/o reflectors, but half my riding is at night. Then again, it's not like the current ones have reflectors! Might have to spring for those MKS's.

Thanks.

V-O sells the Japanese market version sans reflectors: http://www.velo-orange.com/mks30rublpe.html

FWIW...

Cool, never noticed that!

I have several sets of MKS pedals in different styles and have been very happy with them. FWIW they typically need a bit of bearing adjustment prior to use but are fine for a long time afterward.
