Any Vintage Cycle Clubs ?
Hi all. Back when I lived in Georgia a friend and I had a little club for guys that liked to fix up old bikes and ride them together. I have now relocated to NC and I never see vintage lightweights on the roads here. After two years of asking bike shops and posting in local Velo clubs for any interested parties to join me in a new club....I have found nothing ! No reply ! Zilch !
This has lead me to start thinking that maybe my friend and our little group were really wierd or something. I miss the good times and camaraderie that my friends and I had working on each others old bikes and has urged me to ask this question. Are there any other Vintage bike clubs out there ? Is there anyone here that would love the idea to have one ? I am in NC in between Charlotte and Asheville. Are there any other old bike buffs in my area ?

In many old towns across America, you can find old photos of local bicycle clubs - going back into the late 1800's. That's when it was just bikes and horses out on the roads. I've seen many of those old black and white photos of bike clubs in small town museums, county courthouses, even old railroad depots. And I've wondered: What happened to those clubs?

Terrific photos and first person report here about a guy and his cycling club mates growing up in Northern Ireland in the 1950's - their camaraderie, (which continues today), their bikes, their touring gear, etc. Wonderful stuff: https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?...c_id=3994&v=CS

Thanks.. I checked out the Wheelmen....Awsome !!! However, I am hoping to find a group that loves to preserve vintage lightweights. Currently I have a a Motobecane Grand Touring that I ride every day. I also have a 1970 Schwinn Super Sport, 1971 Schwinn Racer, 1979 Schwinn World Sport, 1980 Bianchi Piaggio Astrale, and a Peugeot UO8. Plus I have a mountian bikes as well... LOL. Unfortunately though all I see on the roads around here are new bikes....shame because nothing feels better to me than vintage steel !!
