Colnago Super vs Apollo Imperial. Please help!!

Hello everyone,
2 days ago my bike was stolen and I have been frantically on the lookout for a new one. I rely heavily on my bike to get me to and from work, as well as just about everywhere else, so I have been trying to obtain one within the next few days.

I have narrowed down my Craigslist choices to these two:
https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/1944557185.html
https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/1944563530.html

A 1982 Colnago Super and a 1976 Apollo Imperial. One with full Campy Super Record and one with full Dura Ace.

Obviously my final decision will be made by checking out and riding both bikes, but any info on either would be greatly appreciated. Which one would you choose, assuming they are both in the same condition? Any know flaws in either? Any owners of either bike that can tell me about the ride quality? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

For the asking prices the Colnago is a bit overpriced, the Apollo is way overpriced. If it were down to just those two I would take the Colnago in a heartbeat. In today's market I would think $600-$800 would be a more realistic price for it though?

The Colnago is a proven race frame and carries an excellent vintage parts group that go with the frame. These are great riding bikes. And it should hold its value pretty well.

The Apollo looks like a mid level 70's Japanese production nothing that somebody went way overboard on. A labor of love money pit in my opinion looking for a new owner to get stuck with it.

Maybe $750-800 for the Colnago. The Apollo, $350-400.

Yes, I paid less than $500 for my 'Nago slightly over a year ago. Maybe not in the same condition but it is a reference. The ride is great, btw.

The Colnago's a beaut, and if you are deciding between the two it's the Colnago, no contest at all. I'm alone on this, but considering it's full Super Record I don't think the price is too out of line. BUT... my experience is it's very tough to sell any vintage bike for 4 figures on C-list, so if you are patient that price will come down all on it's own. Wait a couple weeks and offer $700 cash and instant pick up. That's what I would do if I were chasing it, anyway.

Pretty Colnago.

My son and I have Supers.

We bought two of them for a little more than half that $1,000.

Mine looks just as sweet as the "for sale" bike.

Same color as well.

Try waving some hundreds under their nose.

It works on me!

The price on that Apollo is off the charts, ridiculous. So far from reality it is not worth trying to negotiate. +1 Wait a week on the Colnago, and you could be pretty close to making a deal, if the seller wants to move it.

Colnago. Period. And I too think the price is not too out of line.

yeah, the price on both is way high. I wouldn't totally discount the Apollo though, Tange #1 is nice tubing. The Colnago looks like it has been powdercoated so I would check it very closely for filled dings or wrinkles.

The paint on both of ours looks as thick as glue, although it's coming off my son's if you look at it cross-eyed.

......and I agree, Tange #1 rides great.

As a price counterpoint, look at this Colnago beauty that popped up on the local CL tonight.

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ra...952682157.html

Too small for the OP, but perhaps not for somebody else around these parts.

I'd be happy to take a look and ship if anybody gets excited about her.

...and no, not one of mine or my cronies.

Promise.

Size and location mean everything. From the small images it has potential. In Southern California this would not happen, well, it would be offered, for $2875.
