got a univega 12 speed at the dump
I found a univega 12 speed at the dump. I put air in the tires and it rode perfectly and went through all its gears nicely. It's got shimano derailleurs, it's black, and has univega in red in a very 1970's font (double font - sans serif). To this layperson, the crank and the pedal look like they are pretty reasonable. Tires are very skinny. Anyone have any idea what model this might be and what it might be worth. My buddy was getting annoyed at how slow I was on my hybrid - so I plan on keeping and riding this, but was curious anyway

Univega used that logo until the mid-nineties if I recall correctly. Shimano + 6spd makes me think its probably an early 80's model, but I could easily be wrong. Are the tyres 700c or 27"? Sounds like a good find in anycase. When I got my 7spd Paramount, it was a month before I converted it to a 9spd, and even with the 7spd I was able to keep up well with my coworker on his 10spd Bianchi San Lorenzo.

It's a 27" and it says "sportour" in script on the frame |
