I bought this Magneet awhile ago from the 1st owner.

It has benotto bartape and plugs
Sachs Huret f/r derr. and shifters.
Maillard hubs
Weinmann brakes, handles and rims.
Bar, stem, seatpost and crank are SR
Seat was a non orignal, but has been replaced.

It has less than 600 miles according to the 1st owner and it looks very nice indeed. The little paintchips are from standing and moving around sadly allthough it looks just like new.

As far as i know it was build by Batavus as Magneet was taken over by them.

How rare is this bike is it something to keep in the collection or just a B brand and can anybody give me a clue on what year it is as the owner said something in the 80's ...

Personally i think it is late 70's or early 80's as due to the fact that the cableguide is a clipon around the frame.

Help me on this one please.

Now this is interesting. I've got a mid/late 60's Magneet which , to my understanding, was supposedly one of the last built. I was always under the impression that Batavus did away with the Magneet name in either the 1969 or 1970 model year. Guess they decided to bring it back.

Definitely hang on to it. While it'll never be overly valuable, at least you'll never have to worry about seeing someone else in a group ride having another one. As of this writing, yours and mine are the only two I know about.

Ah, just one reply :-)

I was aware of the late 60's magneet brand as i was than very surprised to see this one coming on sale in my town of all places.

Like i said the owner bought it new and new nothing more than just that.

For those people it was just a racing bike and all the things we find so interesting is really a lot of 'raising eyebrows for them to be honest.
Hey just ride it it's a nice bike ... is usually the reply when you ask for brand of parts model etc.

Anyhow i'm still puzzled on how unique this one is and some background info especially on the years after Batavus bought Magneet etc.

Anybody ..
