Identifying old Goodyear bike
Just picked this up from a thrift shop and need help finding info on her.Not sure what I'll do with her yet,possible winter project.
Been repainted and guessing from the rust and sand she came came from the coast. underneath is a Teal-blue color and no markings on the hub other than "The muscle man brake hub Co". on the coaster brake.
Who made Goodyear brand?I'm guessing its pre-war? Serial number reads L13158.
Those are some REALLY fat fenders!

michael k, This may be wrong, but my sister had one as a kid and we were told it was made by Columbia.

Hmm. Skip tooth chain, 7 seatpost and rear facing dropouts all say 1933-1941 to me. Goodyears were made by several companies and sold at Goodyear tire stores. The chainring on this one looks like a Columbia part but those are changeable.
Wait, I just went to Oldroads.com and they have a chart that would have this a 1947 Columbia;

Cleveland Welding used a similar numbering scheme, there's a good discussion of it here;

A clear picture of the headbadge might help. Sometimes there's a small CWC stamp that gives it away.

My first gut reaction is that it's a Westfield made bike, but I am no means an expert. There are many things on this "47" that are similar or exact to my "49" Columbia, which is why I immediately thought this. That being said, the fork crown looks like the one on my 1937 DP Harris made Peerless, the "7" seat post tends to indicate an earlier model in my limited experience.
