vintage Derosa

Hello, newbie here, trying to find out age, model and the best place to find a good home for my old Derosa. I have talked with Christian Derosa at the factory and the serial numbers seem to be wierd. He dropped it as i assume he has bigger fish to fry! Need help.

pics are needed!

Sorry, took me all night to get this far. Whats the best way to post photos?

I'm sure others have their method, but I usually just upload the image(s) to imageshack http://imageshack.us/ and then use the forum link it produces to post them.

From my understanding there are two Derosa (DeRosa?) brands. One has a heart shape for the "o" in Derosa, the other has a spoked wheel shape for the "o" in the other Derosa. If my understanding is correct then this might be why the s/n seems odd, and possiby why the person you spoke with dropped the issue.

And just a heads-up, since this thread seems to be about figuring out a valuation for your bike take note that the thread might migrate to the valuation section. I don't make the rules, just giving a friendly heads-up.

As to the pics, I've used photobucket and include the url link in threads, I've also just uploaded them to the site here directly.

If you send them to me in an email, I will post them for you. I will send my email address in a private message to you.

Translation...email me the pictures so I can see if it's my size and have first crack at it:innocent:

edit..BBM beat me to the "send it to me first" joke...

I will have to check the size of my Primato frame set... it could use a good home... I could use the compensation.

For the record, I have a De Rosa and am not in the position to pursue another. I see how it might have come out that way, but it wasn't how it was intended. It was an honest and sincere statement. I absolutely have neither the finances or space for another De Rosa. The only De Rosa I would be interested in pursuing at this point would be a Signature or Anniversary. Other than that, I have one I like just fine. Truthfully...I'm much closer to selling mine than acquiring another. I like it, and it's a well balanced bike, but I have others I like more.

BBM has both the space, time, appreciation and skill to properly ride a De Rosa...there is no doubt that is where it should go (assuming it is of proper size).

buldogge 09-28-10 09:01 PM

BBM can take the smaller bikes...send the 57-59s my way.

BBM...Did you see the 56cm Primato that Ari (Akelman) listed over on Serotta forums???

Well, That is BBM's size, and close to mine, too. Any pictures anywhere? How much you asking?

I do not publish public images, just a private kind of guy. The BigBossMan gets to review, not till after work. If he does not want it I will point to where to find it.

I will take some photos this evening and try to upload them. how do I swap sections to valuation. I believe this is the Heart type

stien 09-29-10 12:41 PM

This is really confusing: someone else is selling a bike in a thread he didn't start and someone else is selling a bike in the main forum. Nobody cares because everyone wants a De Rosa for bottom dollar. And nobody is posting pictures. Lame.

KonAaron Snake 09-29-10 12:48 PM

I could be mistaken, but I think it was all intended more innocently than that (though it's perfectly understandable how we got on that road). I think the OP was looking for serial number help...not a sale. I tried to help in identifiying it by offering to help with photos. BBM was joking around, and repechage was just trying to help another member. He specifically was not interested in doing a public sale.

The motivations were good, it just somehow looks wrong as a whole.

I apologize for my hand in the hi-jack. I have deleted all my posts, and if others will do the same with their non-topic posts we can restore order.

BBM told me privately that if it's red, blue, white, or yellow, he's not interested!

BBM indicated to me that he'd be ok with your orange one!

It is a beautiful pink with chrome and blue details! I would like to get a clydesdale. Its slower and the frame is heavier.

Apologies for my hand in the hijacking as well. Edited my prior post. Good luck to all the De Rosa hunters!

Cristiano (without the "h" in Italian) is a very nice fellow, but does have to run the sales side of a company selling new products, so you are right that he does have other bigger fish to fry, especially just now when the new line-up is coming out. I would suggest that you would be best to talk to him in January or February which are somewhat quieter for him. I have a number of De Rosa bikes from different periods and might be able to help date the bike. Otherwise I would agree that sending photos to KonAaron Snake is a good idea.

??

Not sure what this means. The sooner you post pics, the sooner you'll get some help and get this thread back on track.
