In that condition, with DT shifters, and RX100 components, it would take a long time to sell at that price around here.

I could have bought one of those for $150 down here two years ago; $40 for a frame two weeks ago. Passed on both.

Good, solid vintage bikes start around here at the $200 mark. Add a premium for indexed shifting, add another premium for high end model and the Paramount name. Deduct some as it is not in pristine ready to ride condition (needs tires, tubes, saddle, and a tune up in the ad, in person it will probably need more). My math puts all of that well under the asking price. But a week from now, with a motivated seller, it could be a real nice buy.

But in some areas, buyers are paying close to $300 for just about anything. So in a hot market, it would probably sell fast.


I just bought a Series 5 this afternoon, so I don't have a problem with Tange. The series 5 is one step up from this model (if I understand it right, that just means better components).

I like Tange just fine. In the keeper fleet right now I have my 1987 Schwinn Prologue (Tange Prestige), my 1984 Lotus Classique (Tange Champion 1), my 1992 Series 5 Paramount (Tange OS), and the 1984 Lemans 12 mixte (Tange Champion 5).

Bill, the difference is more than just components.

The Series 7 and Series 5 were made by National/Panasonic in Japan for the entire production run. OTOH, the Series 3 and Series 2 were initially built by A-Pro (Taiwan), and then in 1992 production went to mainland China.

Cool, good to know! Glad I got the 5 then. A better match for my National/Panasonic Prologue. I need to learn more for sure, as my fleet is rapidly becoming all Schwinn. Never thought I would own another Schwinn after my experience with a 1971 Continental.

I paid $200 for an identical series 3 as the one listed in Phoenix. It was filthy, but polished up very nice. Ride ready once it was cleaned up. For the record, the guy had several buyers and I think Robbie was interested until I called him to let him know I was on my way to look at it. I got it because the first buyer was too tall.
I agree with Bill, in pristine condition, maybe $300. The one in the CL ad looks like it has a big rust spot on the top tube and it will need some work to get it ride ready. I'd say $250, unless that really is rust on the top tube, then cut it to $200 or less.
