More Campy ID help needed to determine best replacement chain and cassette
I am hoping to ride this this weekend (the weather here in southern Ontario is exceptionally fine) but it came without a chain or rear wheel so I don't really know what type of chain to put on it? 7,8,9 speed?
(I remain baffled by Campagnolo models before they started marking them.)
Can anyone ID this RD (and/or the rest of the gear) and tell me what the most suitable chain would be? (Or, how does one figure that out?)
and which wheel set I should use (i.e. a how-many sprocketed cassette)

Looks like Record mixed with monoplaners from another group.
I'll wager that it's 8-speed (pretty sure first-gen, 9-speed Ergos were marked as such), in which case, any 7/8 speed chain will do.
Heck, I've seen Campag 8-speed systems working fine with 6-speed Regina Oro chain too (not that I recommend it) - that's how tolerant they are. You'd never be able to do that on a $hitmano 8-speed STI system.

Like Kurt said, 8 speed Record with Chorus brakes.
I use SRAM PC830 chains with mine, they are cheap, work good and longlasting.

Nah, it's a Pottié
Alas no, it is not a Sancineto.
it is (I think) a simple shop brand from NE France or Belgium that I picked up. Name is Claude Pottié.
Nice paint job (apologies for the crap photos - I am having a bad time getting my Nikon Coolpix 8400 to focus close. Any tips?), though it is a bit banged up.
I took it out for an inaugural ride this weekend, almost as an afterthought as it isn't quite my size (60cm vs. my normal 62cm) and I have other ostensibly "better" bikes. But My Goodness - it immediately shot to the top of my Love List. It rode like nothing I've ridden before. Smooth, quiet, responsive.... I really never believed too much in the difference a frame can make, but I am a 753 convert now I think (thought the Campagnolo Record bits didn't detract from the experience either.)
