Kind of a neat Paramount

Finished this recently. It's a '91 Schwinn Paramount Series 5. Gorgeous thing but sadly...too short for me!

National/Panasonic frame, full 2nd gen Shimano 105. Looked like the original owner hadn't ridden it 100 miles. Stripped it to the frame, rebuilt all of the bearings, built it back up with a neat-o San Marco seat, bike ribbon, Kenda Kadence tires, all stainless cables, Shimano chain, etc. Young lady from DC just drove out to pick it up.

Beautiful. I sure hope she knows what she's got.

She's got a nice bike, no doubt about it.

I really like that era 105 stuff.

Lovely, and that saddle is the topper, looks so good with the package.

It's interesting how quickly Shimano changed the look. My '93 Cannondale R600 2.8 is equipped with "new" 105 (according to the catalog). It does look completely different.

Yeah, I really like the action on the 1055 series, plus it's a dead ringer for the previous gen 600 parts. They even made it in 8 speed versions a couple years later. Not a huge fan of the painted/not polished/not anodized finish, but it does seem to hold up very well.

And that San Marco seat is a beauty, I agree. Just a lucky find.

Also just noticed that I took the leaf pics before I swapped the front wheel around so that the double labels were on the QR side. Such shame.

Sweet looking bike! I love the red on it - it really looks sharp. Nicely done!

These bikes don't get enough love. My '92 is basically the same bike and it's the best ride I ever had, out of many. Matter of fact, I just sold all the bikes in my sig except for the '93. Yes, I chose it over the Koga-Miyata and EL-OS Rossin. Not the lightest or most prestigious, but something about it just suits me perfectly. My main goal in life is to find a Series 7 56cm. Been looking for two years now.
