1984 Kuwara Pulsar

Thought I'd share this bike, since I couldn't find much out there when I was looking for info or for anyone else that had one of these. I bought this off a guy for $25. Alittle elbow grease and a few new parts and this is what the end result is.

This is a 1984 Kuwahara Pulsar, 12 speed. It has better than entry-level components on it. I'd list them out, but you can just see what's on it in the pictures.

They are in before/after order.

Looks really nice. I am currently working on this same bike. Waiting on thumb style friction handle bar shifters to come in so I can move them to a better location for me. Did you ever find any info on them? I would love to hear if you did.

I used to have one of those. It was pretty but I can't say I was real fond of it's ride. It was unique as it carried 2 extra spokes in its chainstay.

@amyfischer and @Jicafold,

thanks for posting pictures of your Kuwaharas. I have been wondering where the Kuwaharas from the early 1980s have been.

The Pulsar has the same frame tubing as the Apollo Prestige XL found in Canada. The dropouts and braze-ons are different ( no spoke holder on the Prestige XL ).
