Pinarello Decals?

I picked up a 74 Pinarello yesterday and it is in very nice condition except for the decals (of course!). Does anyone have a source for the decals, including the head tube (the bike does not have a riveted badge) ?

I have looked on Greg Softley's ebay store but he doesn't have any listed. Looking for white, white with black outline or yellow with black outline.

Thanks for your help!

Both Greg and JR have the decals. I believe JR has my set up on his website: www.velocals.com

I haven't applied mine yet, or I would give you some feedback...

I had forgot about JR, thanks!! The 89 set is slightly different than I have but I could live with it, I don't see any in Greg's store... I sent him a note, may be out of stock?

Thanks

He didn't have them in the store last time either...he sent me an email showing 3 or 4 different sets...none matched the '89 set exactly...Not sure about a '74. Either guy will tailor a set to your needs...patience and time...patience and time though!

I bought some white ones from cyclomondo some time ago... no head badge one though.

I know I'm digressing, but when I saw the title of this thread, it reminded me of the guy who bought some Cervelo decals and put them on a GMC Denali. Then put it on CL

The set I bought from Cyclomondo had a head badge (which I didn't need so I stuck it on the back of my Honda Civic that transports the bikes.) They went on nicely and have stood up for a year, still look like new, which is more than I can say for the originals! They are thin enough that they don't look "stuck on" even though they are. They can be clear-coated but don't need to be.

To enforce the spacing of the P I N A R E L L O lettering, the decals come covered on the "top" side with clear plastic surgical tape. The idea is that you peel off the backing then press the whole thing, tape and all, down onto the prepared (soapy water) frame surface. Then when it dries and is stuck firmly, you peel off the adhesive tape to leave the letters behind. I found I couldn't make this work: the adhesive tape didn't want to curve to fit the frame tubes and wanted to pull the edges of the letters off as it sprung back flat. Perhaps wrapping yards and yards of twine around the decal to hold the tape (and the decal) down firmly would have worked. But I just took the letters all off the tape and set each one individually into place, which took a lot of fussing and measuring but came out OK.

What is it about Pinarello decals? Why are they so bad?

I have used Cyclomondo decals, purchased through Ebay, on my Peugeot PX10. I know that you can purchase Pinarello decals from this fellow, also.

The decal quality is excellent, and they are easy to apply. A bit pricey, at fifty bucks a set, but worth it if you want something that looks good, is easy to install and stands up.

They never applied any clear over the decals.
Because of this, the decals simple chipped away as the bike aged.
If you banged it against something, or stored the bike where changing temperatures could affect it, that accelerated the process.

i thought on older peugeot bikes, logos were heat transferred not stickers?

also isn't there a guy in australia who's really good at reproducing logos?
