Appears to be hardly ridden, but there are 2 small dents (or large dings) in the top tube - bike stand clamp? Or fallover accident?

Very nice! Lusting after that chainguard, just because its so weird! I have a 69 and a 70... always wanted one at the time, but could never afford as a college student.

I imagine it just fell over to make those dents.

Oh, yet another example of a Raleigh with the Paramount 531 decal... I always wonder how those happened... tubing sets diverted?

It seems to be very clean (I would't give the dings a second thought)- except I would have to lose the blue tires. Nothing against blue ( I have s set on my Trek 760) but just not on that bike. (I tend to go especially conservative on old Raleighs)

Wonderful!! One of my all time favorite paint schemes as well.

yea, I'll pull the tires - I wanted to get it up and running first (it needed new cables/housing, lever hoods, caliper o-rings, pedals, and a tune up.
What would you suggest, black, gum wall, or ?

I have a set of gum wall ruffy tuffys looking for a bike, they are 28mm, might fit.

Very nice, always loved that color scheme. Looks to be in very good shape.

Nice snag on the Prof. shoould clean up super! +1 on the Panaracer Gumwalls. I noticed the dropout is drilled for a fender eyelet as opposed to a brazed eyelet. What does't the fork end have? can you post a pic. Thanks.

I think the dropout hole is for the campy portacena device:

no braze-ons or holes on the front dropouts.

Those tires are a disgrace. You must remove them immediately. Go get that done right now!

When that is done, come back so we can discuss removing that stupid chain guard on the chainwheel.

Yeah, the chain guard is cool. I had 28mm Panaracer paselas on my 78 Professional and I thought the large size looked dorky. I put cheap tubulars on mine but want to get fancier ones in the future.

If the chainguard didn't say "campagnolo" on it, I would pull it! I swapped out wheels, both the get dark gumwall tires on the bike, and to try to sort out a shifting problem (chain skate) the bike has. I took a known wheel w/freewheel that worked fine on my Mclean, put it on the raleigh and had the same result. Chains from both bikes are the same width. Der. hanger looks straight, but I haven't gauge checked it yet.

Nice find, love the Campy chainguard, and definitely suggest the lighter color sidewalls for that bike. Sweet find.

Just move the rear brake cable guide back a bit and no-one will notice a thing...

Where's the chain skate? On the chainrings or the freewheel? If the freewheel, swap to a narrower chain (also check cog spacing to see if its incorrect). If the chainrings, seek a wider chain, such as a TAYA or early Shimano UG.

I put 700X28 Kendas on mine, and the rear was large enough to rub the brake caliper...I think I'd stick with 25's.

skates in the rear, on the freewheel that was on it, and on the suntour freewheel with the other wheelset. Old chain (and new) were both 8spd (3/32), which worked fine w/ the suntour freewheel on the Mclean. Not sure if it is a freewheel problem, chain problem, derailleur problem, or frame problem.

i have the same problem on my fuji finest. i assumed it was the freewheel but you're saying you switched freewheels and you have the same issue. i'm thinking kurt might be on to something and my chain is too wide.. i've been picking up cheap $8 chains made by Bell at walmart. they have one for "multi geared" bikes and on for single speeds. I'm of course using the multi geared on but i'm not sure what the width is. I think the freehwheel is a 5 or 6 speed.

Very nice Pro. The Mk. V, probably the least collectible of the series, is my favorite, because of its classic profile.

And the blue Michelins are a nice touch. Let's not take this stuff too seriously.

After looking at your bike, and noting 3 hour ride, I now know and see how I got this addiction for C&V bicycles. ;) C&V is really "bicycle heaven"...;)

For me, a ~3 hr. drive is about the cutoff/trigger point to consider shipping, for something I might "pop" on. It took all day (drive there, inspect, bargain, eat, etc., drive back). But I was able to inspect the bike, find the dings the seller claimed to be unaware of (which got the price down), transport it back intact. Roundtrip gas cost me ~$35. Still working on the chainskip, I am considering getting a shimano freewheel to match the shimano chain I put on.
