brake levers for 25.4mm handlebar

Need help fixing a problem. I impulsively bought cane creek scr-5 aero levers to replace the weinmann non-aeros on my Peugeot PFN10. Didn't check the compatability. My handlebars are 25.4mm and the new levers are 26.0mm. Should I return them or can I use the binder strap from the weinmanns and install the scr-5s?
Thanks for any advice.
Kevin

25.4 and 26.0 sound like clamp diameters, and may cause compatibility problems with the stem of your choice. The rest of the handlebar is probably 15/16" (23.8 mm) and your road bike brake levers should be fine with that. Or are these levers for some kind of oversized bar? In that case, try switching the bands... if it works, or if it doesn't work, you'll know it.

I think this brake lever comes in a single size as I don't think this brake lever is designed to work with such a specific diameter of handlebar (unlike interruptor levers)-- it is adjustable over a wide range with a screw. I bought and used these on my husband's 25.4 clamp sized handlebars without incident. They fit and look great! If you plan on adding interruptor levers, you either can use size 26 with a shim over the clamp sleeve or use 24's on the bar itself. I did the latter.
