Stingray Fastback wheel question
5 Attachment(s)
This is rather embarrassing. I picked up a couple of cool Schwinns last night including this '68 Fastback Ram's Horn. Problem is...
It has a set of what are definitely original Stingray 20" wheels. However, all the Fastbacks I've ever seen have 24" wheels. This thing has long-reach Weinmann sidepulls, which, as you can see in the picture, can reach 20" wheels at the lowest point the pads can go. But there's a lot of travel there, and I held a 24" wheel up to the bike, and it looks like it would fit fine, with the pads at the top of their range. So--and I know this is primarily a vintage road board--I'm hoping someone can tell me: Is there such a thing as a 20" Ram's Horn Fastback? And was it made in '68? (I'm going by the seller's word, and http://www.angelfire.com/rant/allday...innCodes3.html here...the serial starts with ED) Thanks! |
Oh, and I should also mention that from a cursory inspection, with that big crank, it does look as though 20" wheels would put the pedals very close to the ground...but that's not so out of the question for muscle bikes anyway, so I don't really know.

Yep, I delved into some catalogues and found out, but thanks for the confirmation..the frames really does look like it could fit either.
