as you can see, my shop is dedicated to something other than pure cycle wrenching, which I only do once in a while.

great looking workshop. can I make a suggestion? I always found it easier to remove the pedals before removing the crank LOL

I have a shop set up in the basement. Tight quarters, especially in winter when the bikes are hanging along the back wall, but it works:

YES! Thanks. me too. But I knew those pedals, 1962 Record which had sat un-used for 25 years, weren't coming off either on the bike or in hand. Ended up putting the crank in my wood-lined vise jaws. That pic was after I got it loosened and I did the final "un-screwing" by hand. Thanks!

out front on a good day; living room floor until I left a grease skid on the carpet; the garage, aka " The Man Cave" according to a house full of women; and a stack of bikes, frames and wheels blocking the dryer.

Thats a VeryC&V woodshop you have there! Bailey bench planes from #3 to #8? By the orange on the levers they look like type 13's

I work on bikes in the basement, the woodshop (for un-bending bent Raleigh's in the bench vise), and wherever along the road that my usual ancient french steeds decide to shed parts.

Good eye. But that largest one is only a 7. As to type? whoowee....you got me there. I can't remember. Maybe 16. A few non C&V ones tucked in there too. Place is a mess, aint it?

Beautiful picture, rootboy. I can't put my finger on it.

I don't see how to work on bikes outside. First of all, winter is out. Second of all, it takes a lot of time and effort to bring all the tools outside and back in.

Thanks Tom. I was going to post a pic of the shop itself, but realized, THAT doesn't really look like a mechanic's shop! I only work on a bike once in a great while, when I find an unusual one I can't resist, like that Frejus hanging there. I'm relegated to a couple of hooks in the floor joists above. I de-grease my parts outside, though. Rootboy
