thanx, I think i did alright as i said i wanted the saddle. yeah im not to sure about the paint it looks ok in pictures but up close its pretty done but it's weird cause all the decals are still intact. the made in england on the top tube is still there but not as noticeable. I really do like the raleigh decal with the snow flakes it's so christmassy. It really is a cool bike, just not the shape I hoped it would be in. but we already talked about that "RHM". who knows i might part it out, but for now i think ill just use it as is.

Is the crank made by Raleigh or Williams? Probably the former, but if the latter there may be a date code on the back of each arm and the rings.

I'm under the impression that Williams made them for Raleigh. I think I read it in an Ebay ad once so it must be true.

Here are some pictures of the crankset that came off of my 62 Raleigh Gran Sport. Should match the one on the Lenton.

Well, when I bought it off of ebay a few years back, it arrived as pictured in the first photo, with a bent fork. I already had a road bike, so I thought it would be interesting to build it up as a fixed gear, as seen in picture #2. My love affair with fixed gear riding didn't last long, so I converted it over to a 3 speed with a new Sturmey Archer SRF3 and Nitto Promenade bars. So far, so good.

Awesome bike!
If you don't want it, keep the saddle and sell it to me! |
@mikey85 tempting but im sure shipping would be crazy expensive.
|
Well, if your temptation turns to reality, let me know about shipping. It'd probably have to be January-ish though.
|
@mikey85 ok ill let you know.
|
Hey if Mikey85 backs out, I would definitely be interested. How tall is the frame?

Hmmmm....

Hey RKM, I'm sending you a PM.
|
Ok, I have to have 50 posts (?!?) to send a PM. Can you send me message? Or, maybe I could somehow give you my email?

James, as much as I love the Lenton, it's a shame to see it without the original seat:
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/bik/2075514299.html :-( And don't worry boys, I'm local to JamesJ and have already emailed him about the bike - so maybe it will go to a good home. Also, I have a 23" framed 1974 Raleigh LTD-3 that I might sell if I end up getting the Lenton: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1276/...74bf5cbc24.jpg A few more photos at http://velospace.org/node/28366 or flickr. EDIT: While photo is without the chainguard, I have the original red chainguard. It has been reinstalled since the photos were taken. |
