My Gios Torino Professional is a 85 with 24,000 miles and I still enjoy the bike. My Cinelli is a 95 with 3000 miles and I enjoy it as much, but still like the Gios overall.

Have lots of fun! gioscinelli

My Cinelli is an '84 and my main bike! It was purchased by my homeowner's insurance after my '62 Carlton was stolen.

The only bike I've bought new since 1984. As it sat before a forum member bought the Dura Ace AX bits:

After the DA AX was replaced:

love my gios

here's my GIOS, from somewhere around the mid 90's. love this bike. previously rode my '81 carlton raleigh everywhere, so this was my first step into brifters and also an upgrade to the heady heights of 8speed! The bike now has black mavic aksiums on it, as the ritchey wheels pictured started cracking and wouldn't keep true. the black is a bit of a funny look, but i like it. will have to update this pic!

Are these two marques related somehow, other than being thread worthy Italian steel?

this was my gios super record...until i crashed it. the top tube and down tube were damaged and the great fork with the coins in the crown was shot. the framebuilder i took it to said it would be about $600 to do it right. i got a nice old italian steel frame to build up to replace it but i feel as though i'll always keep an eye out for this one's twin sister. i'm thinking about trying to just get it straightened somewhere but not sure how to proceed..

You can try Ebay or Craigslist. Also there's Jaxed/Mash at "https://bike.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/bike.cgi" will give overall view of Ebay, Craigslist and Kijiji. It's too bad about what happened. The Gios looked great, keep the parts for any future build.

Here's my gios, I bought it as a bare frame and fork, and built it up as you see here. It rides better than anything else I have.

Gios Torino Super Record

I just purchased two Italian road bike last week as a package. Bought a Colnago Mexico with all Campagnolo Super Record parts, and a Gios Torino Super Record with all Campagnolo Super Record components with the earlier Cinelli handlebars and stem. Sold the Colnago which paid for the Gios! So my total cost for the Gios Super Record is less then $100. Oh, I test the fork and it's as an arrow!

This is the Colnago that made it a nearly free Gios SR!

Both are the cooperative project bikes by Cinelli for Centurion in 1985. Of course, framesets only.
Above are Ventos and an 8-sp Chorus Ergo group, paint is original, decals are altered and/or repro. (now on tubulars)
Below has '89 Chorus 2x7 group w/Chorus hubs laced to Sun M14A's. Repaint in Enzo red and old-style Cinelli repro decals.

Massive bump up! I picked this Gios Compact Pro frame up for $75 at the beginning of November. Built it up with a 105 SC group, and end result was a 10.5kg bike.

A month later(yesterday actually), I destroyed the frame. I rear ended a car only hundreds of metres away from home. Just at that moment i was looking down at the front wheel, and I flew over the bars. Picked myself up, and the bike, but tended to my busted lip before all else. Noticed I couldnt steer, and then realised I had just bent the frame. Looking back at the GPS data, I was going at 25km/h when I collided into the rear bumper of the X5. I came out alright with only a few tiny bruises and abrasions, and a busted lip, but nothing too serious.

Did about 350km on it, so I got my $75 value out of it, but still it is the loss of a pretty good frame. I am sad that this has happened even though it could have been prevented if I was paying more attention. It was totally my fault. Most surprisingly is that all the other components are fine. Front wheel is a couple mm out of true, but not dented or broken at all, and my brake levers are scratched.

It will be hung up for the time being. Maybe in the later future, I will get it repaired. Or Id track down another Gios frame.

Hi Quang, That was a beautiful Gios and glad you're alright. I had a similar confrontation with a car pulling in front of me when riding my Colnago Mexico some years ago, the upper and lower tubes had the same damaged. That's when I bought the Gios that I have now.

My revised Cinelli SC:

Enjoy the Kestel 4000!
