Vintage Miele Road Bike
I bought this about six years ago and am seeking information on it. I was told, based on the Campy GS group, that it is 1984 (Crank has a circled 4 inscribed inside). I am by no means an expert and would appreciate all expert opinions. I purchased it on eBay; it had been professionally repainted by the previous owner; has no decals but I can see outlines of the old ones. Since I have owned, it has suffered a few scratches, but not from use, just from a few clumsy moves. It's a nice looking bike, with a nice ride; very light. I wanted to get a decal set that I found on eBay but I want to be sure to get the right ones. Also wondering if it would be worth having it professionally repainted...again.
Here are some pics...hope I did this right:

Great looking Miele , don't see ones that nice too often. I think I'd keep the paint though pricey to repaint and it looks good.

Yes, keep the orange paint, it's great! Here's the set I used on my '80's Miele "Gara" when I repainted it:

I agree. Don't paint it.

Well, the crank code does indicate 1984 and Rossin did make some Miele frames, though if it has been repainted why does it have the Rossin decal, and why would a professional paint over decals? Are you sure the original decals just haven't been removed? That was a known Miele colour. Miele started making their own higher end models circa 1985/1986. A Rossin frame would be pre-1985. If the rear derailleur is OEM, there will be a patent date on the top housing, next to the cable entry point. If those hubs are Campagnolo and OEM, there will be dates on the backs the locknuts. Based on the Campagnolo dropouts, the frame is almost certainly Columbus SL or Trteubi SL at worst. Seat post size for SL is 27.2mm. If the inside, bottom of the fork's steering tube has five spiral ridges, it's full SL, If not, but the post is 27.2mm it's tretubi SL.

Very attractive looking bike. No need for a repaint in my opinion.
Could you identify those gold annodized brakes and levers? That is a great looking set, and nice match to the bottle holder.
It does seem odd that the Rossin tubing sticker survived a repaint. Any chance you could send some closeups of the tubing where you see signs of the decals being removed. Given the color and condition of the paint finish I think T-mar's hyposthesis that the paint may be original and the decals were removed is worth investigating.

Based on a catalog, or brochure, I have, your bicycle is probably a Miele Nouvo Corsa. I am including the brochure page for that model and one for the Victory model.
Also, I really like Miele bicycles and I am lucky enough to have one that is pretty rare. Have a peek at my orange Miele. I call it number 17.
There is something interesting in order of appearance in the brochure. It seems to start with the top model, the Record and move on down to, truly lesser models. Then the information changes to include three or four bikes. Not sure why this is so unless those bikes at the end are of Italian origin.
Hope this is a help.

Damn! Who are you guys? I am impressed by the quick information!
Yes, I can see the five spiral ribs in the steering tube. Seat post appears to be 27.2...though I don't have a micrometer. This looks like the decals were certainly removed, so I must assume it was to repaint, though I'm not sure why the outlines would be there if it was then professionally prepped. It might have been painted around the Rossin decal. Well, I was going by what I can remember the seller telling me but I may be over-analyzing this, so based on the expert consensus here, I won't worry about repainting it. I really appreciate the expert advice and info. Again: I am impressed!

Touching the outling of the decals feels like they have more paint around the outside which would lead me to believe they were removed and then painted over without much prep, or removed after the paint. The Rossin sticker looks like it may have been left on, carefully masked and painted around. There is only one other sticker that is definitely added over the paint, I assume from the shop; it says simply, "Pecco's."

Possibly you're feeling the difference between the paint and the clear coat?

Some Photos of Decals
on my recently acquired Miele bicycle.
I had been hoping for the opportunity
to brag on it, so thank you.
The previous owner (original) took pretty
good care of it, so when the chance to buy
arose (he suffered some inner ear damage
that affects equilibrium and is looking for
something with slacker angles), the decision
was easy.
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
Most respectfully,
Mike Larmer

THat's a very early miele, most of the models I see are 80s/90s with 105 or 600. Your bike might not be the most valuable, but it certainly isn't common.

And, for what this is worth, the paint, up close, looks to be very much like that on other Mieles I have seen. My guess would be original paint.

Randy, how big of a collection of Miele catalogs, etc. do you have? I'd love to see whatever you have.

I am unsure of any old bicycle's $ and cents value, these days. That said, I have run across quite a few Miele bicycles and, for the most part, the best ones had Columbus SL tubing with Campagnolo drops. Yours has the Campy drops and a tube set that seems very similar to the Columbus SL. My guess is that you have a pretty good, fairly high end, Miele there.
And, for what this is worth, the paint, up close, looks to be very much like that on other Mieles I have seen. My guess would be original paint.
