What kind of Merckx is a '76?

Been talking to a guy with a dusky rose metallic EM that's Campy/Mavic. Says he bought in in 1976 in Germany and is the original owner.

What kind of EM would have been available in '76? A Coventry bike with EM's name on it?

Any ideas as to relative ride quality vs. a later Corsa or Corsa Extra?

Sadly...no pics. At least non worthy of posting here. Yet.

Maybe a Falcon or Kessels, if you are lucky. Not a Merckx Merckx.

Owner says the bike was built in Belgium of 521 or 531. Kessels?

Likely.

Some of The Kessels Eddy Merckx frames are very nice - I'd love to own one. Kessels of course built many of Eddy's actual race bikes during his career, and I believe supplied the C&A team in Eddy's last pro season.

I thought it was generally accepted that Kessels was only involved with the Molteni era frames, and that DeRosa was exclusively repsonsible for the Fiat and C&A frames? This came up on CR and one of the members had a letter from Eddy documenting the manufactuers of his race bicycles, year by year
