Time capsule Voyageur
This is the second Voyageur I purchased recently. The first one was rougher and needed TLC so I moved it to a good home after this one came about.
Bike was sitting since the early 90's so I replaced the tires and seat with some I had sitting around. That and replace the battery in the Paramount computer. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...d/DSCI1911.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...d/DSCI1912.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...d/DSCI1913.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...d/DSCI1914.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...d/DSCI1915.jpg |
Beautiful!!!!

Wow, another one? Is this from the WTB ad too? I want another one, so if you come across another in the neighborhood or 58cm...
|
The last one was a 58, It went to another local C&V guy who should be giving it a cozy home. This one is a Panasonic built bike so I prefer it over the Mississippi built one I had before for whatever reason.

Lovely bike That Guy Zack!
What's on it ? (componentry) |
Its all stock for a 86 except for-
Leather bar wrap Dura Ace chain Deore XT pads I added the Panaracers and the Brooks. The DiaCompe Grand Compe brake levers and rollers are super nice, Not sure why I never see them around. The previous owner told me he had one of the 10 best days of his life touring on this bike. Thats more than enough endorsement for me. http://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1...986Ltwt16.html |
What a beautiful touring bike !
|
Oh wow - I just got a better look at the color - beautiful !
|
What a gorgeous bike! I like the old Cannondale bag and the Panaracers really look sharp. Got to remember those for when my current tires wear out.
|
I believe i saw that one in dallas. was going to get it (you beat me to it!). Congrats!
|
It was not this one. That one was black, and it launched the hunt for me to find one of my own.
The other 2 touring bikes I picked up from the same seller are nicer than this one. But thats all for a different thread.

Holy moly.

I just bought a 1988 Voyageur in a 21" frame. Yours appears to be a 25" & the paint looks great.
Did you replace the tires with 27x1 1/4" & were they steel bead or kevlar? Any advice? John Hawrylak Woodstown NJ |
These are the 27 by 1 1/4 Tourguard. Theres still plenty of room left with these tires. Its gonna get dirty this weekend with 40 miles of dirt and gravel.
|
That looks like my Voyageur before I had it upgraded with modern 105. A nice riding bike...

That bike is sweet looking!! Those things are actually difficult to find regardless of condition not alone in new condition.
About 3 weekends ago I too found a 85 Le Tour Luxe with only 150 miles on and was stored since 85 with a blanket over it. It too was in mint condition except for some ZZZ scratches on the seat post. The owner rode the bike for about 1 month after he bought it and then hurt his back at home and couldn't ride it anymore. Then about 5 years he thought he would try again so put new tires and tubes on but after roughly 5 miles his back started hurting so back in storage with a blanket over it. Then he finally realized he wasn't going to ever be able to ride it, and sold it to me for $100. The price was cheaper the Varsity's I've seen sell for so I bought it without even bickering over the price. After I lubed the bearings and chain, cleaned it and waxed it and looks like it just came off the showroom floor. It's a light (dusty?) blue color with Suntour Mountech driveline which works great on the stand, I haven't been able to ride it due to snow. |
