^ Woah, that's nice. Love the Victory crankset.

Oh man, there's an Italian thread? Any excuse to post my '85 Pinarello Montello again...

I just got hold of some 8 speed Record downtube shifters, so I might un-brifter it and take it on an organised retro ride.

I guess I have a few more I can add since the last time I posted here.

One is this nice Giordana Polaris sporting a super clean Dura 7400 groupset.

Then this Ciocc I picked up recently. Only got a few rides on it before winter hit so I've still got some sorting out to do on it.

Finally there's this Billato built Lemond GLX. Good Excell steel and a Campagnolo Racing T setup.

It's old, it's heavy,,, it's "Old Heavy", my winter and "rainy day" bike. Once moving, it's sweet, even though it's the bottom-end of Bianchi's 70's steel. I previously had it fully neo-retro, with Campy 9spd ergos, but have recently gone back to the old friction DT shifters and non-aero brake levers - but I'm keeping the 9spd cassette and Khamsin wheels. I'm going to upgrade the brake calipers, to Tektro R559 long-reach dual-pivots.

Boom! Very nice. Hey, can you run two bidons at the one time? Because they look very close. I can't on my Pinarello - I've got this stupid adapter thing that jacks one up. I only use it when two bidons is a necessity...which is almost never.

According to how you want to define it. These pre-trek bikes were built by the Italian builder Billato. So yes, to me I call it Italian. Also they were sold through Ten Speed Drive Imports in the states, so yeah sounds like they are Italian import bikes to me.

Sort of like how my Panasonic built Schwinns are Japanese bikes to me, not American.

Sure and since my shortest normal ride is 27 miles I usually need both.

That is one awesome collection DD. Hard to pick a favorite because all the builds are so classy, but I have to say the blue Colnago Super is really pretty. Such a great color.

And yes, I'm helping to keep this thread on page 1!

Thanks. I'll probably leave them pretty much as is. Maybe go 10sp DT shifting on the Pinarello.

C & V Ciocc, best guess after 1986

Not C or V. frame isn't even truly Italian (Italian company, Taiwanese manufacture) , but it is full Campagnolo at least!

C but not V, Wife's 2003 Fondriest. seen here in a motel room having a "69" with my Pinarello!
When we rode the Sacramento Century this year, a guy who knew a LOT about Fondriest, went gaga over her bike. he went on and on about all of the details, including the history of the builder and his racing career, and how rare a bike like this is in the US. I just agreed silently, but as i bought the frame from a big US retailer, I couldn't see it being a particularly rare variant. (he was talking about the Monumental SAT limited edition of the frame.) he even knew the details of "SAT" and how the graphics were applied!

I love Italians. I love sharing pictures of my bikes. How have I not posted in this thread before?

It's a good start, I think, but @Drillium Dude's posts have shown me that I really need to up my game.
