Need help identifying an 80's Bianchi

Hello All,

I need help identifying a Bianchi I just purchased. I think the bike was repainted so I have some doubts that it is actually a 1983 Bianchi Specialissima. The bike has a "B" engraved by the seat stays and the crown of the fork has "bianchi" engraved as well. The chainring is a 52/42 and is also engraved with Bianchi. The saddle is a perforated Soffatti Proffessionale and the rear derailleur is a campy nuevo record. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you.

If it has a "B" in the seat-stay tops it's not an 80's Specialissima. That with "Bianchi" and two grooves on top of the fork crown would make it a Rekord or Nuovo Racing model most likely. Of course posting some pics would help.

Here are some pics.

The brakes and derailleurs are campy. I have the orginal wheels (not pictured). Mavic rims on campy hubs. The headset also says bianchi and the crank arm also has bianchi engraved. Tks.

What makes you think it may have been repainted? I have a lower end Bianchi, and the paint quality looks similar. Like the powder coat is caked on real thick.

The paint is in great condition, but the Specialissima decal does not seem like it was put on correctly. The chainrings have little wear, although the saddle looks worn. Here are a couple of other pictures.

It's not a Specialissima frame. Again most likely started life as a Nuovo Racing or Rekord 748 model. Ther seat-tube decal is not installed correctly either, and I do not what's going on with the head-tube? Pick a badge and go with it

It can't be earlier than '81 as the '80's used a different lug set. '81-'84 would be right. Actually probably an '81 as I think that was the last year they used the Gipiemme crank and that headset. I think everything went to Ofmega in '82 or so. It's not a bad frame. I have one set up as a fixed gear.

I agree with the others it likely is a Nouvo something or other. I agree with the repaint because the Bianchi decal on the ST is upside down and that style Specialisma decal looks like the one from the '88 Specialisma X-4. also the circle B and the forkcrown are not pantographed.

what are the cranks? Ofmega? why are there two head badges?

taking a further look at the closeup of the Specialisma decal I am not even sure it matches any Bianchi font

I have noticed that sometimes this site only has the top few models.

After doing some more research I think Otis is right, it may be a Rekord 748 from 1981. Not sure why there are two badges. I have yet to see the metal badge on any other bike.
