I want to trade this bike ( Bertoni ) for a trek 500 or 600 series. My Bertoni is 21 1/2 inches from crank to seat post. I need something at least 22 inches. I am 6'1. This is a rare Italian made bike that is hard to come across. This is my only bike and i ride it about 100 miles a month, So i need something is the same working quality. room for a Mtn. bike in this thread?
I have a too-small 1998 Bontrager Privateer, believe it's the size "S", measures 15" C-to-T and has 170mm crank arms.
This is a complete bike and is basically catalog-stock, including the Jones tires, only the saddle has been swapped out and a couple stickers removed from the Indy XC shocks.

Too small for me and my job is to sell it, BUT...if there's anybody with a "M" or "L" that would trade I sure would. Frames only or more...

For those that don't know them, this is the "entry model" chrome-moly frame built by Trek in Waterloo WI but under supervision by Keith Bontrager...True Temper OX3 for this year Privateer, AND it's the year they went to the 1-1/8" steerer so swapping out forks is substantially easier than the 1"-ers.
I will take pix of the actual bike but meanwhile, here's a pic from the catalog (it's 99% the same as what I have).
Edit: the pix, sorry that this one is so blurry, but the others are better, mostly.


more pix are in this album, it's a WIP and the chips have been touched-up with nail polish that almost matches the yellow ochre paint; also have replaced the cables and will soon repack the front hub (rear is done).
If I can't swap it for a larger frame, it'll go on sale as a complete bike.

I have a Series 5 PDG Schwinn Paramount. It's 59cm and just a smidgen too big for me. I'd drop the seatpost down a little bit but previous owner jammed a fluted Dura-Ace seatpost into the tube, looks like over-estimated the size of the OS tubing and now the post pretty much feels like it's going nowhere. So that's something to consider.


I have about a 23" inseam and my legs are fully extended at bottom of stroke.

Sekae FX stem and bars (Cinelli Coleido tape)
San Marco 2010 Ponza Power saddle
Mavic rim in back, Wolber up front (front wheel has brand new tire and tube)

That said it is because I am planning on getting this professionally powder coated and getting the top brake guides replaced. I can't convince Bruce to relinquish new decals, so I wanted proof that this is one of his frames. Hence all the new pictures

So this is kinda my last effort before I go through with this, if anyone has a decent offer for a trade, I am willing to listen. I was going to drop this off Monday along with another frame I am getting done.

Also have this Raleigh Marathon Mixte Frame I am willing to trade for maybe some more basic frames like steel Trek's, Schwinn's, Miyata's etc. I have a thing for old touring frames. Or even parts too.

The frame itself has 19.5" c-to-c seat tube and virtual 21.5" c-to-c top tube, so it is one of the slightly harder to find larger framed Mixte's. It does have some surface rust on the rear stays, that will probably need to be addressed. I can probably include the original front derailleur and maybe a few more parts, no promises though. I think I might have the rear brakeset and maybe crank still too. I thought I have the original seatpost, but couldn't find it when I looked for it today.

Well the Bruce Gordon Chinook is at the painter's and the Raleigh is gone so they are both off of the trading block.

Found a set of decals for the Chinook and now delirouisly happy to have a winter project building this up. Probably start a project thread once I get the frame back.

Here's a 56cm squared frame that's offered for trade for a 57cm road frame, or something with strong cross possibilities, or possibly even a nice 1 and 1/8 HT MTB frameset. It's an Olmo San Remo, Columbus Matrix tubing, a very responsive rider, but just a cm too small for me to take it out on the long rides that I had intended it for. Better pics if interested.

I have a 1990 Trek 1200 Frameset. CR-MO fork. Seat tube measures 47cm C-T and the top tube is 49cm C-C. Takes a 27.2 seatpost, 34.9 FD, and has internal cable routing for the rear brake. Has braze-ons for fenders/racks. Paint has some touch ups, but still looks pretty decent. No dents or dings in the tubing. Newer Ritchey Logic headset.

Looking for something with a 54cm or 53cm top tube. I would prefer something with a sport/tourer geometry, but would not mind the same frame in my size.

Have a pair of decent but not pristine mixtes that didn't work for my needs.

First is a 1970s Jeunet (I posted a question about it in the appraisal forum to figure out mode) Size is 20.5. Light blue with chromed fork and dropouts. Pics below, but others available if interested.**

Update-- thanks to the C-V ID and appraisal forum, this model is the only Mixte Jeunet made, likely a 620.

Looking for a 21.5 or 54cm basic touring frame. Nothing too crazy, just a basic tourer with mounts, etc.. that I can build out for my wife (she wants traditional men's frame).

Or else a 21.5 or 23.5 (54 to even 60cm) run of the mill 70s-80s vintage Raleigh with mostly decent paint.

I have this lovely old Holdsworth full Reynolds 531 (tubes, stays, forks) but, at 62cm (c-c) the frame is way too big for me. I am looking for an English bicycle and would consider trading this bike, or frame, for something of interest in a 56cm size. The bike is of mid seventies vintage, probably 1976 but I could be off by a year or two...

I've got a couple of frames for your trading consideration.

1972 Paramount. Seat tube measures approximately 57cm c-c, the top tube is approximately 56cm c-c... rides nicely, but is simply too cramped for me. Decently repainted.



1981-ish Holdsworth Professional. Seat tube measures 59cm c-c, top tube 56cm c-c. Sure wish the top tube were a bit longer. Paint is all original, with a few nicks and scratches, but otherwise in good riding condition. Everyone probably already knows this, but Holdsworth announced the closing of their doors last week FWIW.



What I'd like to find... a similar era Paramount frame/fork in good condition, just larger. My perfect fit is my 1966 Paramount, which measures 60cm c-c along the seat tube, and 59cm c-c along the top tube.

I have two Trek 7900s. Carbon/aluminum frame w/ cro-moly fork--a 1994 18" (30.1" stand-over, 21.9" top tube, 18.5" crank center to top tube center, Ice Violet/carbon) and a 1996 20" (31.3" stand-over, 22.6" top tube, 19" crank center to top tube center, Ice Forest Green/carbon).

I'd trade either for a 22"-'94-'96 7900.

Will trade either your choice of a bare frame (both are in pretty good shape) or a complete bike. I have the original Shimano 700CX component set for the '94. (I'm currently riding the '96 with the components from the '94). Will also consider a comparable hybrid-type frame sized for a 6'-0" rider, but my first choice would be a 22" 7900. I have an '86 Colnago Super frame that I would consider trading for another comparable quality Italian frame that has a 57 - 58 cm ctc seat tube. The Colnago is 54.5 cm ctc seat tube and top tube. It is in beautiful condition with no rust and just a little dark spotting under the chrome.

I would love to keep the bike but after getting my larger Raleigh Pro, I realized just how much more comfortable I am on a larger frame. I would consider frames such as another Colnago, De Rosa, Tommasini, Zullo, Rossin, Cinelli (a guy can always dream), etc.

Please be aware that this frame has unfortunately (IMO) been re-painted to look like an early 90s Corsa. I have no idea why.
