Need help identifying this bike
1 Attachment(s)
I'm a complete noob and bought this bike this morning from a friend to get my feet wet. I know nothing about it. Obviously it's a Peugeot, but, I'm curious as to what model/year it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It needs new tires and a serious tune up but other than that it looks like its in pretty good condition.

Try
retropeugeot.com It will take a little effort to go through all the catalogs, but that's how we identify these bikes. Unless, of course someone happens to own the same model. |
Looks a lot like my 83 PSV10, but the fork is from something else. Can you post a drive-side photo of the bike?

Thanks for all the help, I was on there earlier and couldn't find it, pretty much because I don't even know what decade it was produced it. I'll try to get some better angles of the bike up here a little later tonight.

Thanks again for the help. I hope these clear it up. It looks like someone also just bought this frame and said it's a PSV 10. Although my fork is different. I spent $50 so far. Is it worth restoring or should I just use it as a beginner bike? I bought this mainly to break myself into riding. I am planning on competing in Tri's next summer and eventually an Iron man so I will have to upgrade in due time. Opinions? Hope I attached the pictures right.

It looks like a PSV, but I'm not certain. It's well worth restoring. It isn't a low end bike. |
Early 80's I guess, and well worth $50. You've done well. Beyond that, I can't say.

I publish MY "TEN SPEEDS" to help people who are just getting started with an interest in vintage road bicycles. The site is also for the experienced collector/rider as well. You might want to visit and look around. My guess it will help to save you time, effort and cash as you put that lovely old road bicycle back on the road.
Also, when seeking help here, or anywhere else on the web, good clear pictures of the complete bicycle and close ups of frame set detail will greatly increase you chances of getting useful information from others. Hope this is a help. |
