Tubing ID help
 

Anyone know what make this tubing is. It's reasonably light...similar in weight to a Cromor frame, although I don't have the benefit of a really accurate balance. The fork is Tange

Looks like it says 'Reynolds', but I am not familiar with that style Reynolds decal.

I've never seen a diamond shaped Reynolds sticker.

I can make out Guaranteed Built With, but that has got to be common.

I never saw a diamond shaped Reynolds label either - but the third line does sort of look like the remains of the name "Reynolds".

Guaranteed built with Reynolds (fill in the blank) tubes, fork and stays.

Your steerer is probably Tange, lots of builders used those w/Reynolds blades.
Doesn't match any of the decals on the Ti Reynolds 40 decal page I have, though.

I agree it does look alot like a Reynolds. the bike seems to be in Ireland so maybe it is some domestic, Heaven Forbid, "NON 531" tubing

I definitely see Reynolds and I definitely see the Ti logo on the bottom. Maybe it was a "custom" trim to get the diamond shape?

It does say Reynolds on there and Made in England. And this triggers my memory of the same. No number as far as I can recall. So maybe someone "borrowed" the Reynolds name?

I bought the complete bike in Northern Ireland with my hard-earned cash when I was about 16 and rode it south across the border through customs...back when there used to be border customs. It was my first lightweight. Nowhere near top end but it was all I could afford back then and it was good enough for me.

Sadly I didn't take as good care of it over the years as I should have. Stored in a shed but not protected sufficiently from the moist air we have in this climate.

I'm thinking of restoring it just for the heck of it...by stripping and hand-painting motivated by the recent threads on here.

It looks to be a well built frame, but I would pay special attention to the top tube at the junction of the seat tube, there appears to be some extreme bubbling in that area, maybe just paint, but the tube could be severely compromised.

In any case, thank you for sharing the frame with us. If it's not rideable, it will make a great piece of wall art, and bring fond memories every time you gave upon it. If it is beyond repair, I would leave the paint and patina as is.

Consult a frame builder.

The bubbles are from rust underneath the paint. It doesn't appear to be too deep though and I plant to do a little sanding in that area first to see how bad it is. Inside of the tubes look to be fine.

I've also sent a friendly e-mail to the shop I bought it from. If I'm lucky they might reply with some info.

Thought some of the knowledgeable folk on here might be able to id frame builder from the pics in the flickr link but realise as it's not high-end then this could be near impossible. I'll throw up some pics of the complete bike as well.

I saw the private message that you sent me regarding this tubing, but I was unable to reply because of some sort of user restriction. Anyway, I've found this thread, so hopefully you'll read it here.

This decal is the same as the Reynolds decal on my 1981 Raleigh Clubman. Here is a link to my original thread which answers any questions I would think:

I've had some communication from Reynolds and they think it's probably SMS too.

As you'll see, the SMS tubes are for the frame only on my Clubman. I seem to remember that the new decal I got from Nick at Lloyd's was marked 'Frame and Forks made with Reynolds SMS', or something similar. I hope this helps anyway ;-)

This time with the tubes, forks and stays, like it seems to say in the OP decal.

According to this website, Reynolds SMS is straight gauge (non-butted) hi-ten carbon steel.
