I'm sure its all a matter of perspective, but sometimes I wonder which way the trend is spiraling...........
From todays CBO (Cambria Bicycle Outfitter) email ad promoting Death Row Velo's new 2011 line.
Stand out in the pack with gear that will throw some fear into the competition! CBO is now carrying DeathRow Velo’s uniquely aggro cycling apparel. Designed by hardcore riders to hold up under big mileage, DRV bibs and jerseys are styled to intimidate. Jerseys are made from wicking Coolmax fabric with a cut that hits the sweet spot between race and club fit. Bib shorts feature Coolmax antibacterial chamois with cooling silica gel insert. Make your mark in 2011!

It was a year ago yesturday (on the second) as I watched my dear father die from CPOD. He smoked a pack and a half for my entire life except for the last five of the fifty one years I been alive. It didn't really effect him untill one day about 10 years ago, while working on a wood project he went to blow off some saw dust and he couldn't. That little abiity to "puff" a little air from your lungs was gone. Gone forever! The lungs just stopped working one day. And the last few years he was living on the tanks and little by little died a little more each day. During is last few days on earth as he laid there in his Hospice bed I felt like a man on the deck of a boat watching his buddy who fell overboard and drowing....I couldn't do anything except watch the waves take him away. I don't want my kids and grandchildren too have to see me go that way. Nicotine is a mighty powerful drug but I haven't lite up since a few weeks after Dad's passing. Almost a year. My wife still smokes but not in the house. Which is where I rebuilt most of my Centurion bike project. Couldn't stand the smell of her smoking in the garage. Yuck! But I still craved a smoke while polishing those parts. Kind of a self reward trigger I guess.
Another thing. I have been a off and on again smoker for decades. The older I got the less I noticed the bennifits of not smoking during a quit.
Stop now if you smoke. And when you do... get use to craving nicotine. you'll have them (fits) for the rest of your life but.....you can get use to the cravings.

Kenny Souza was Duathlon World Champ. I remember seeing his Nishiki and Avia ads in the bike mags and just cringing because that was how non-cyclists viewed anyone on a bike. Loud, neon, "spandex".

Saw an interesting movie recently on the tobacco industry called "Insider" with Russel Crowe and Al Pacino - about how they scheme and conspire to hook people and lie about it. Probably 10 years old, based on a true story.
