What to do?

I picked up this '91 60cm Raleigh Technium Super Course sight unseen before arriving to pick it up. The term of "good condition" varies from person to person. She told me it was in good condition, but I wasn't expecting this. I originally was going to rob the components for a project and sell the frame. Turns out this bike probably has less than 50 original miles on it.

60cm from center of crank to top of seat tube. About 58cm from center of seat tube to head tube.

Is the seatpost or handlebar stem stuck?

Absolutely not. It's almost perfect. I can only find one scratch on the main tubes in the blue lacquer/anodizing and just a couple scratches on the fork.

What was Brooks thinking?

Turbos were selling better than B17s at the time, I imagine. Trying to stay afloat. Glad they did.

Honestly I would keep it complete. If you keep the GP it deserves better parts.

I've heard good things about the 500LX Exage stuff. A triple BioPace setup would be cool to boot.

Plus it's too tall for me. That's why I was focused purely on parts. I guess I'd hate to dismantle a survivor. :(

It deserves to go in one piece, with some pride.

+1

Then where should it go? Haha. I don't want to put it back on CL. That's where I found it.

sauze 01-04-11 04:10 PM

Send it north! Looks like a fantastic ride, and just my size.

custermustache 01-04-11 04:41 PM

It's a pretty good size - you should sell it together.

I can't believe that bike cost nearly $500 new. WTF?

People, we should all understand the rules. They're in the sticky if you need a refresher. No offers to buy or sell in the open forum, please.

pumpguy 01-04-11 08:48 PM

I think you should keep it together. I hate to see a "survivor" ravaged for it's parts. Kinda weird to see it sold in Texas. It started about 8 miles from my house.
