fluted seat post with measurements?

Some time ago i seem to remember running across a picture of an old seat post here. IT was fluted and it also had measurements like a ruler gauge forged into it. Any idea who made this post? Seems like a neat idea. I have a mid 80s bianchi sport sx with a fluted Sakae post and wanted to start messing with seat height when i switched out to my new saddle. I thought...heck....seems like an easy way to dial your seat in if you are messing with height. Beats a ruler :)
Ive got my calipers out for now and just use a sharpie to mark the post as my baseline and go from there.

The long channels on the sugino are known to let rainwater into the seat tube. That campy one is beautiful though.

I have a Sugino on my Bridgestone. A little waterproof grease takes care of the water intrusion.

I love that SP-KC, especially with the flutes painted to match the bike somehow.

Then again ANY fluted post should have painted flutes :)

That's true. I took the parts off that 51 cm frame and put them on a better-fitting 57 cm frame.

Yep, the one on my Trek is stuck as a result, but it's stuck just where I need it and I'll probably be buried with the bike so it doesn't matter.

This one is on my Ciocc. I don't think Campagnolo did this at the factory. I think manufacturers had this done as part of their pantographing. I have a stem done the same way also.

i ended up getting a sugino sp-kc today for next to nothing. It is in great shape. the only problem is......it is a 27.2 and i need a 26.x

"Strong" made one too (that's a Japanese brand, not necessarily a description), kind of a cheaper version or the Sugino. Can't find a pic of one, so they must be kind of rare.

+1 on the rain water and stuck thing. But what about the aesthetics? Good grief, could a seat post look more tractor like?

I come across these posts, from time to time, and like neither the way they work, nor the way they look. But that is just me.

If you come across one in a 26.6 please let me know.

Can I see more pictures of that Ciocc please? And can I have it? Pretty please ;)

Edit. I just realized their was a website on the pic and went there. Gorgeous bike. It's too big for me though so I guess you can keep it...

Beautiful Ciocc! Then again, I guess you could say I'm a wee bit biased . . .

A friend gave me this. The pic shows the results of what an SP-KC looks like after it bonds to the frame, and a co-worker frees it up with a pipe wrench.
