Are there any 8 spd shimano or shimano compatible freewheels out there?

I am upgrading my Premis to 2x8 600 STI, are there any 8 spd freewheels out there that I can use? I really dont want to re lace the wheels and such. If not I will just go with a 7 spd and have a dead shift on one end.

You didn't find the levers on a donor bike?

With your luck, another month or so one should show up for $50.

Sachs Aris freewheels were probably the most common 8-speed FW that were made before everything went to casette. For a couple of years in the early 90s, Sachs sold a complete pro-level grouppo with parts cobbled together from various manufactures (rebadged campy 8-speed ergo shifters, modolo made brakes) that included their 8-speed freewheel as they did not yet have a casette hub developed to go with rest of the drivetrain.

https://www.bikepro.com/products/freewheels/sachs.html

I had far too many freewheel race wheelsets to abandon them all when I switched to campy ergo shifting in 1992, Somewhere I still have an 8-speed regina freewheel.

Nope got them off a guy on here. I really like the wheels and want to keep them, thus the search for a 8 spd freewheel

but you needed chainwhips to remove first 2 cogs to use a freewheel remover..

sort out the ratios you use you can probably live with 7, 'speed' is the work effort you put into the pedals.

IRD and SunRace are other brands. IRDs are expensive, but the SunRace freewheels are all over eBay for fairly cheap.

I have a brand new Sunrace 8 speed freewheel I picked up for a project that I never used, I would be willing to do some kinda trade for it rather then cash. if you are interested let me know.
