I am upgrading my Premis to 2x8 600 STI, are there any 8 spd freewheels out there that I can use? I really dont want to re lace the wheels and such. If not I will just go with a 7 spd and have a dead shift on one end.

Sachs Aris freewheels were probably the most common 8-speed FW that were made before everything went to casette. For a couple of years in the early 90s, Sachs sold a complete pro-level grouppo with parts cobbled together from various manufactures (rebadged campy 8-speed ergo shifters, modolo made brakes) that included their 8-speed freewheel as they did not yet have a casette hub developed to go with rest of the drivetrain.

I had far too many freewheel race wheelsets to abandon them all when I switched to campy ergo shifting in 1992, Somewhere I still have an 8-speed regina freewheel.

sort out the ratios you use you can probably live with 7, 'speed' is the work effort you put into the pedals.

I have a low mileage 8sp 13-28 freewheel made by Soleus (Taiwan) that I could let go. PM me if interested.

IRD and SunRace are other brands. IRDs are expensive, but the SunRace freewheels are all over eBay for fairly cheap.

I have a brand new Sunrace 8 speed freewheel I picked up for a project that I never used, I would be willing to do some kinda trade for it rather then cash. if you are interested let me know.
