If God Exists

I'd like to thank him for connecting me with this:
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=185811http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=185812http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=185813http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=185814http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=185815

If not, thanks anyway. :thumb:

I have certainly called people "chrome *****s" for
much less than this, which kinda reminds me of the
"67 Cadillac my dad drove. I had heard these had
a pretty nice ride, but I had no idea how nice.

For a guy whose regular ride around town is this:
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=185816http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=185817http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=185818http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=185819
it will probably take some adjustment.:D

But I guess if I can't get used to it, I can probably
find some kid around here who wants to turn it
into a fixie.:roflmao2:

Velognome 01-12-11 07:21 PM

Apparently He does! Very nice, kinda a rags to riches thing goin on. What's the story, built, bought, inherited?

3alarmer 01-12-11 08:04 PM

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord" -- Isaiah 55: 8-9

Bought today for approximately the price of this:

http://sheboygan.craigslist.org/bik/2143356397.html

so I guess I could have done worse.

Thing is, I had just sworn off any more bicycles at
present because :1. I do have quite a few at this point.
2. The wife is starting to express some concerns.

BTW do any of you other C+V guys actually manage
to park a car in your garage? I can still get one in
(2 car garage) but it's a struggle and I find myself
fantasizing about what I could do with the space.

Anyway, someone calls my attention to this on CL
(the devil's workshop online):

The rest is history. It really is true what they say
in the 12 step programs. You're always going to
be a bikeaholic. One day at a time is all you can do.:D

Guess my sobriety clock starts again tomorrow.

Wow you missed out on a rear rack and sprung seat.....what were you thinking......If you ever decide to get help, I'll hold on to the schwinn for ya till you get clean. My CL is only populated with huffy's varsity's and MTB's....sigh.

BTW do any of you other C+V guys actually manage

I subscribe to the low density approach. I've got em in the basement, in my office, garage; even thinkin about one for the bedroom. Move em around from time to time, harder to get a good count that way.

sailorbenjamin 01-12-11 08:35 PM

I've always wanted a purple Schwinn. That one even has chrome fenders.

David Newton 01-12-11 09:10 PM

If that Varsity is still on CL, it's probably still available, right?

Nice Paramount, shiny.

Velognome 01-12-11 09:21 PM

Wouldn't show finger prints like the shiny one

I don't know, the really good stuff goes prettty quickly.

Mmmmm, shiny. Shiny good. Me like shiny.

All good gifts come from God.... Just in case, you didn't have to sign anything in blood, did you? I'm having a hard time keeping my stable trimmed down, but I'd sell a bike or two to make room for a beauty like the one you found.

Gotte 01-13-11 04:18 AM

Shhh, Richard Dawkins is listening. He's always listening.

pastorbobnlnh 01-13-11 05:32 AM

Great find & gift from God!

Make certain you check out cudak888's Paramount Registry and add your P-15. Kurt also had a great experience with replacement decals on his chrome Paramount.

P.S. I can't believe someone would ask $1000 for a Varsity, even a mid-60s model!

Maddox 01-13-11 10:37 AM

Did your Paramount come with the original title and owners manual? If not, you clearly got had. The purple Varsity is obviously the more valuable of the two.

brockd15 01-13-11 10:56 AM

Wow, a chrome Paramount for the price of a Varsity!

rat fink 01-13-11 12:01 PM

Beautiful bike. You should change nothing, except the mileage.

3alarmer 01-13-11 12:30 PM

Clearly, There Is More Than A Little Irony Here

However, you have me with regard to the title.
(:wtf: is a bicycle title anyhow?)

Well played sir.

531phile 01-13-11 12:46 PM

You obviously said this following prayer a bunch of times:

"Our father, whose art's in heaven, hollow be thy frame. Thy links' cogs run. Thy wheel be done on earth, as it is in bicycle heaven. Give us this day our steely thread. And forgive us our dents, as we forgive our denters, or dentees. So why not lead us into temptation, for after all, you're delivering us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the pedal power, and the chrome-plated glory, for ever. AMEN"

I fully intend to start a thread there at some
future date entitled "What would Jesus Ride?".

I'm not much on mythology/bible stuff, but isn't it the Devil who temps with worldly goods? Have you checked your pockets for your soul lately?

Thank you for this. I had been struggling for a name
for this beast. (I confess that I have strange names
for many of my bicycles, in the manner of children and
idiots).

I was gonna go with something hackneyed like Silver Streak,
or The Flash, or even The King of Bling, but I think
Chrome Plated Glory (possibly nicknamed Gloria) it is.

If I ever get around to awarding the naming prize, it's yours.

I got a chrome fetish, myself, though none of my current bikes have any chrome on them. That needs to be rectified.
